Picked some of this up and wondered if anyone would use it in a 44 mag?

I know its an older powder with specific applications in reduced loads for bottleneck cartridges but I dont need it for that.

Whether it can give me same power levels as unique or maybe blue dot in a 44mag would be more useful for me.

There was a little data for 44 special on another thread. If anyone has opinions or old load manual data for 44 mag feel free to post.

I have data in the Lyman 45th for 4756 but not 4759, what weight bullet

The powder in question is listed for 44 special in the rcbs casting manual. Some of the same powders are listed for 44 mag and you might use them to extrapolate. Again the first picture with the powder in question is 44 special. Maybe start 44 mag at max for special. 20220906_091106.jpg 20220906_091131.jpg

I have that book. I was going to look when I got home. But...
I have some others to check also.

I have used 4759 with 44 magnum. I will have to get back on my data but if I recall correctly the velocities were about midway between max S&W loads and 44 spec. 44 mag seems to be on the lower side of net powder per load for 4759 but it worked. Nevertheless, if the bulky powder filled 100% of the remaining seated case volume they shot rather good but nowhere near the performance when used in a 500s&w load

I will try to remember to add my results here from my log book.

I still have 4# of this dandy powder but I hoping to trade for some LRM’s

As promised, though just a snapshot:

629-6 5.5”
Chronograph placed at 20 feet
44 mag 225 gr HRNDY FTX
• 21.5 H110 - 1315 ft/sec
• 19.0 4759 - 1086 ft/sec

4759 seems to like solid crimp too
