3rd Generation S&W's- what is/was the impression?

I've owned countless Smith autos over the years and the third gen guns are built to last. I don't remember ever having to replace parts on one other than maybe switching out the ambi safeties to get rid of the lefty side. I can't speak highly enough of them.
