Dan Wesson "TITAN" 1911 semiauto 10mm: msrp $3,829.
My father was looking at the Colt Delta 1911 10mm a few years back and it est. cost... model:O2020 Delta Elite 10mm 5” STS WD $1012.
Now there are I am sure a few that don't like Colt gun's, I have come across a few in my time but really would you pay that much for a "TITAN".
Keep in mind taxes, holster, any other misc. items after the $3,829 price tag!
I was reading the article in a "Gun's and Ammo" magazine review.
Now I am sure it is a great gun and most likely better than the Colt, but I don't know if it's that good. For that kind of money I would be getting a Knight's Armament SR- series rifle or something like that. IMO.

People spend that type of money for .45ACP 1911s, why not for a 10mm?

You can be sure it will cost a good deal less than MSRP anyway. Dan Wesson Valor MSRP is over $2000, but are selling for $1600

MSRP is USUALLY higher than street price. Granted, that's not always the case for some 1911s... But, some vendors will still sell it to you $200 or less.

I saw that listed in the new handguns. I would imagine that you could probably get one for $3500, however.

Would I buy it? No. I have owned a $2200 Ed Brown Special Forces and a $3000 Custom Shop Springfield. I ended up selling both as I've moved on from the 1911 platform again. I tend to go through cycles. Waiting 1 year for that Custom Shop Springfield was part of the problem. By the time i got it, I was interested in some other gun.

I may get the 1911 bug again, but I'm not sinking $3k into a single gun again. You always lose a few hundred dollars reselling them later...

Even though I have never done anything but make money on a 1911 sale, I can say I would not buy a 10mm 1911 because I would for the first time loose money on it since they tend to be a flash in the pan caliber for a 1911 form factor. Like the Bren Ten, and the Delta neither sell for what the owners paid for them.

You are right people do spend that much on .45 ACP's all the time, and I have no problem with what companies think their product may be worth. Several year's ago I was actually looking into getting an H&K mk.23 SOCOM and would still get one, yes it is a big gun and I like it but it was only $2,300. (I know it is not a 1911, but still) With today's economy it just to me seems a little too high msrp to advertise for what I see as a combat style pistol. Now a precision IDPA Match Grade Competition style 1911 that you actually compete with I get that. -- Just saying.
If the street price comes down to like what you guy's mention and I agree MSRP is almost never what you really pay to say $3,000 now you may be getting in the ballpark!
Mabye I am just old school or whatever you want to call it but if I can at least hit my target in a firefight at 30-50yds. with a $900-$1,400 1911 style/ influenced anything I will take it in a heartbeat! (SPEND THE REST ON AMMO!)

There are some SVI open guns I would pay that much for but never a DW.

I think the people those guns are marketed towards don't need to make the consideration of pay $1000 and spend the rest on ammo because they can afford to do both. There's a fella that recently dropped around 3 grand on a Nighthawk 1911 at my LGS, took it home and decided it was too pretty to shoot, came back the next day and bought another 3 grand Nighthawk 1911 that would be his shooter. If you have a lot of disposable income, the new high-end DW's look look to be pretty neat guns. Otherwise, I would avoid the high-end market and stick with a more practical gun and lots of ammo to go with it.

I believe the Titan comes from the DW Custom Shop.

In any case, it's less the sticker shock and more the overall weight that's surprising to me.

Although if a lot of the parts are made from Ion-bonded 24k gold, that would explain both.

:) Kind of like hearing someone buying a Ferrari F430 then complaining on how much his gas bill is every month, it just is not an issue.

You can't just compare it to a .45ACP pistol. The parts in a 10MM gun will need to be all custom produced & machined because there are no off-the-shelf parts available. Add to that the craftsman's time needed to build it and it makes more sense.

you've been able to find custom parts for 10mm 1911's on brownells, midwayusa, wilson combat, NHC, etc. for years.

Dan Wessons arnt known for being cheap. There arnt very many 10mms out there tbh, the colt Delta, EAA has one(although people give them hell in reviews), theres a 10mm glock, and a few others like the Dan Wesson however none are very cheap(except for the glock)

If EAA is still selling the 10mm Z2 it is a good strong pistol made by the turkish . Cheap too. You could buy a box full of them for one of the 1911 versions.

If certain components are made of titanium I may look into getting one otherwise I will just have a good laugh.

Correction: Some people give them hell in reviews. Some people really like theirs. And they are priced competitively with the Glock, depending on the specific model selected.

Lets see.

Caspian high cap recon frame with frame specific parts . $560

$30 for the trik trigger.

Looks like EGW hammer, probably their sear too. Figure about $130.

Golfball slide cuts are labor intensive.

dunno where they are sourcing the grip panels, haven't seen g-10 grips for caspian frames. Aluminum would cost you ~ $60.

Then you have the cost of the slide, barrel, and other small parts, the finish, etc. Caspian mags are expensive too, and I'm assuming the night sights are tritium, which costs more. Supposedly the titan guns are getting lots of TLC form actual people to boot.

I suspect if you tried to replicate it with a box of parts and a willing gunsmith, you would wind up around $2900-3000 if you were frugal, patient, and bought things on sale.

That being said, who knows what the real price will be. They announced them a while ago, and I couldn't tell you if anyone has ever seen one for sale.

The .50 GI 1911s from Guncrafter Industries are $2985, IIRC. Of course, the only other .50 GI option is the Glock conversion kit, so there's not much competition to bring the price down.
