Just curious what m&p owners load this type of bullet to for col/oal?

This is my first box of these 180 lead RNFPs.
First ~ 400 rnds fed fine, mix of Unique, Titegroup.

About halfway through 100 rnds of cartridge's loaded with 231 I had 1/2 dozen intermittent FTFs/jams. These were between the 40-55 rnd count going into a 100 rnd box. The 40 or so rnds after the few FTF's worked fine.

Now the pistol had at least 500 rnds of WWB's through it, then the lead reloads.

Just would like to eliminate further problems like this.

Would going to ~1.130-35 help?
Could it be the dies need a cleaning.
Or the pistol was getting fouled up...

Just got done cleaning the pistol,
I'm going to be loading up a batch today and thought I'd check in here first for any ideas.

TIA, Tom

I'd try seating the bullets with the shoulder just barely above the rim of the case. However, it might have just been dirt that was cleared out, since the gun started working again, and nothing really wrong with the ammo.

Any of the possible causes are plausible.

How do these rounds compare to the WWB / factory ammo you've been shooting for LOA and meplath location--do they generally feed OK? Most of my feed problems have been due to the LOA being set up properly for the bullet design, with the shoulder exposure a close second.

If you do adjust the LOA to get the shoulder down, then be sure to tweak the recipe if you're running close to the max.

If the first 400 fed fine it is not the O.A.L.. How about bullet lube buildup in the gun? These rounds with W231 not as hot, causing cycling problems? Just guessing. :)

Well I've had FTF problems recently in my M&P. At first I thought it might be my gun but I think it's my reloads. Someone suggested that If I make sure all rounds are under 1.125" COL problem should go away. I usually do but I think I had a bunch that were at 1.130"... I'm doing them at 1.120" from now on. I was using Berrys plated 180gr bullets.

Since you have Titegroup try 2.8 gr under those bullets. Makes for a light shooting accurate load that is great for IDPA/IPSC Production.

Take Care
