I am wanting to purchase a new or slightly used but in very good condition pistol . I like Beretta and I have a 92fs in 9mm , but , I want a different style of pistol . I am curious about the full size px4 storm . They are kind of ugly and yes I know that doesnt have anything to do with function or ergonomics . I like the springfield xd guns , however , I was a little concerned with where they are built . I am not saying I wouldnt own one . My buisness partner has one our company bought him for Christmas a few years ago ( I know that is a really great way to celebrate jesus's b-day )and he absolutely loves it . I have shot it and I think its a great shooting gun . I am not real big on Glocks b/c of the whole safety design , but , I wont down talk them either I have never heard anybody say I bought one and it breaks all of the time a big POS . What else is out there that is reputable American made with good steel or plastic and people seem to hold in high regard ? Oh yeah I would like some capacity doesnt have to be 17+1 or anything that high , but , hold a dozen or so .
Thank You to everybody posting

S&W M&P 40

Made in the USA, high quality, very reliable, accurate, comes with a thumb and/or magazine safety if you want, and 15+1 capacity. I have one with about 4000 rounds through it, and it's been great.

XDs are decent guns. I know a number of people who own them and have never come across anybody who did who didn't like them.

I've got two Glocks, a 19 and a 22 and see no reason to switch.

My vote is for the Sig 229. Solid, well made, and in my experience, utterly reliable. You can just add a .357 Sig barrel and shoot that caliber as well.

My brother has exactly that set-up, with both barrels, and he also is a guy who used a 92FS as his main pistol for years. He's been very pleased with the Sig 229, having owned it for probably five months now. I've shot it and I can group better with it than I can with either of my own 3rd gen Smith .40s.

I went to bass pro last night and fingered a few of them . 24/7 , m&p , xdm , px4 , fn , glock . I am still a little up in the air , but , will be making decision soon .
Thank you everybody for the input .

If I were in the market for a .40 Short & Wide, I'd seriously consider the FN FNP40. The Beretta PX4 is also a fine pistol but the FNP series are a great deal and an excellent pistol! The Sig pistols are great also but carry a big price tag.

i don't care where my xd is made, at over 17,000rds i couldn't be happier, it is reliable as can be, accurate, and eats any and every bullet cast, jhp etc that you will feed it.

Go try an M&P 40 at your local range. Nothing else will ever feel right again. After my first M&P, I was hooked. I'll never regret selling two Glocks to help fund my five M&P's

M&P40 FS
M&P357 FS
M&P9c
M&P9 Pro Series (x2)

I like my XD-40 & it has been flawless. I believe there are a lot of good choices out there. I know it gets said a lot here but I think you should go rent, borrow & shoot as many of the many different options as possible. Only you will know what suits you best. All we can do is tell you what we like.

if your not going to carry sig 226 if it is for carry sig 229. i had a 92fs that i loved wanted to get a .40 as well went with the sig 226 and love it they both fit my hand perfectly
