I am looking at purchasing a 9 mil and I have narrowed it down to one of the following;

Glock 19 or PX4 Storm G Series

Both have great features for a semiauto. I have shot the G19 before and really like the handling, weight and accuracy but hurd frames have cracked. I am not sure on the PX4 if I would like the trigger with single and double actions but like the safety features. I hear the PX4 is quite accurate as well.

Opinions? Has anyone shot the PX4 or own one they really love?

It is accurate, and reliable. I've had mine about 15 months and it shoots very nice. The prominence of the controls is a lot different between your 2 identified pistols. If the higher profile BUSA controls bug you, they have low profile slide lock/release and decock levers. The PX4 G should have the low profile decocker unless you're doing the conversion yourself.

The double action should be around 10 pounds, single action around 4. The transition from DA to SA can be a concern if you don't practice it. But if you do it won't make much difference.

I'm going to defer to the glockophiles on the frame issue, but these 2 gun should be pretty comparable. I know you can get a pretty decent deal on the PX4 on gunbroker, but keep in mind that leather, kydex and magazines will be a little higher also...

I don't regret buying the PX4 for a second and would buy another one...

I love mine. The trigger is really really nice straight out of the box and only gets better.3 backstraps to make it comfortable to many different size hands.Drop dead reliable.Accurate, very low felt recoil.Don't let the "rotating barrel" scare you. It's proven reliable from 9mm thru 45ACP.
Lurk around berettaforum.net.Read the reviews here and TFL. :)

glocks are fine firearms, and you need not worry about cracking a frame, especially in the 19 model. the 19 is i believe the best glock ever devised and an all around work horse. the storms point good and feel good to me, but the glock has alot more, after market parts, acessories and such. i would go with the glock.

The 9mm Glocks seem to be the most durable handguns made. They are simple, easily maintained and if anything were to go wrong with it the company will replace any and all parts for free no matter how old it is. The design is easy to learn how to completely strip the pistol and small parts are not expensive to replace yourself if you needed to, although the company recommends that only certified Glock Armorers go further than field stripping...good thing is there are lots of us around ! If Glock ever has a "Shoot" nearby there is always a Glock armorer there to check out your pistol and replace any parts for free....just can't beat their customer support....good thing is, you'll likely not need it !

I think Glocks best guns are their 9mm ones & the G19 is the cream of the crop....In this case, the G19 is a solid firearm & you can't go wrong if you go with it

of the 2 guns listed i would have to go with the g19 i m biassed tho i love mine only thing mine needs for me is a grip reduction

I bought a 19 when I decided it was time to save some money on ammo when playing with my pistols. I love it so far and think the 19 is the best pistol in Glocks product line (although I like my 21, and 30 as well). Frames cracking on a 9mm is a new one to me  . I wouldnt worry about that at all.

How much can the PX4 triggers be changed? The advertising I have read leads me to believe that the gun is very modular and can be changed between carry and "competition"triggers. Maybe that is over interpertation on my part. Glocks are great guns I own a 17 and a 20 (10 mm) with a ported .40 S&W firedragon barrel. I am considering a S&W M&P 40 as a next purchase but could be persuaded to go with a PX4 if the deal were right. I collect guns so my choices many times differ from someone who enjoys shooting and only wants to own a couple guns. Were I in the latter category I would choose the glock because they are some of the most durable guns out there and they have probably the largest selection of after market accessories especially barrels making them the most versitale gun going for the money.

Well, don't be so hasty in giving the durability crown to the Glock! I had a PX4 type F and threw it (well, dropped it out of a cheap holster) from the roof of a four story mill building where I was working, whereupon it sild down and off the side fell those four stories into a shallow rocky creek... Round in the chamber, hammer down, safety off. It didn't go off when it hit the rocks or when it hit the water (it hit the rocks first) and when I fished it out again it was just fine with NO damage to the frame or slide whatsoever except for a ding on the slide release. I shook the water out of it and fired the round in the chamber.

In my opinion the PX4 has a nicer trigger as well as the double/single action mechanism (depending on model) and has a good indicator of being cocked (external hammer) as well as a higher capacity than a G19 out of the gate, looks nicer, has glow in the dark sights, and feels better in the hand.

The Glock has parts availability going for it, including aftermarket, and extended mags are readily available for it where the PX4 currently has none. The Glock will have more holsters and other doodads because it's been out longer, as well.

Two different triggers DA/SA with the Beretta , vs. Glock's constant trigger pull. If possible handle, dry fire, and especially shoot both before buying.

Remember that the PX4 is a full-sized pistol and the G19 is a compact. There is a definite size difference. That said, the PX4 comes with the interchangeable back straps so you can adjust the grip to fit your hand.

The rotating barrel lock-up system on the PX4 helps reduce perceived recoil. I find the PX4 more accurate (for me) than my G17.

I use my PX4 as my daily carry weapon. It rides very comfortably in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover IWB. I plan on getting the .45 ACP version when it comes out this summer and the 9mm will become my wife's gun -- she loves it with the small backstrap installed.

Hope this helps,

Jim

I've had a G19 for a year and a half. It has malfunctioned twice in 7500 rounds. That happened during and advanced pistol class. That night in the hotel room, I detailed stripped the slide and cleaned it out. The last day and 400 rounds later, no more problems. It is a great pistol and gets shot the most out of everything else I have. They're so simple to work on that every owner is pretty much his own glock armorer.

Flip.

I like the Px4.

- Never had a jam.
- Very easy assembly/disassembly.
- Steel magazines.
- Nice trigger out of the box.

No complaints here.

I love my PX4! About a 1000rds through my 9mm version and its accurate, has never misfired or jamed and feels great to shoot and hold. I don't have a single complaint about this gun. Mine came with two 17rd mags and two extra grip backstraps, it was a fine deal!

Nothing against Glocks, they are fine guns, they just have never appealed to me, even back when I owned one. I don't think it has anything to do with Glock's design or function, its just that theyve flooded the market and everyone and there brother seems to have one. That says a lot for Glock, but what I want now are the guns that arn't so common, I want to be the different damnit!:D

In 9mm, there is nothing I can do with a full size pistol that I can't do with my Glock 19 which is a "midsize". I'm sure that larger sized guns have better accuracy and more rounds and more of this and that... but for me... everything I can do with them I can do with my G19. Mag capacity, accuracy (for me), reliability, simple to maintain and clean, affordability, accessories galour.

Think about it. Why would you need more than a G19? Just my opinion... although a PX4 is still on my short list of what to get next next guns. But first is the SIG SP2022. I'm a fan of polymer pistols I guess... or at least until I can afford some top of the line metal frame ones.

How about the Rugers in the mix?

Sounds like I will be satisfied either way. Thanks for all the responses. I do want to throw one more into the mix. The new 9mm Rugers. I was eyein' those baby's up, too.... the KP95 and P95s.

Rugers are great. Have had a few. Robust, solid, durable, reliable, and robust. Yeah, try as many as possible until you find what works best for you.

But you're not going to do better than the G19.

px4 will be fine I'm sure, if you like the trigger. I didn't. At all. Although lots of people are happy w/theirs, so give it a try. This is just a no brainer in my estimation

I had a PX4, and sold it. I found it too bulky to conceal, and for me it was heavy.
