I have been searching for a 40s&w load using 180gr lead bullets, and WST. I searched Hodgdon's site, and looked in my loading manuals. I couldn't find any thing in Luman's, Speer, or Lee's. Does any one have a load for this combo? I thought about reducing my Platted load by 10%, but just curious if anyone had a load. I have W231 also, but would like to use WST if possible. Thanks!

Hornady 8 has W231 data for 180gr lead (a swaged SWC that's no longer in their catalog):

WSP primer, OAL 1.125 in their barrel

3.8gr 750fps
4.3gr 800fps
4.7gr 850fps
5.2gr 900fps
5.7gr 950fps which they call max

No data for WST, but there is data for Titegroup (21.-4.8gr), Bullseye (3.4-5.3), Clays Univ (3.8-5.3), Viht N-340 (4.0-6.1), SR 4756 (5.4-7.1), and Accurate 5 (5.8-7.6).

Hope that helps!

Yea, I can find data for W231, and Tightgroup, but none for WST. I may have to go with W231. These loads will be for IDPA practice only. My current Compitition load is 3.9gr of WST under 180gr Berry's Platted. Thanks!

I have some data in one of those " One Caliber reloading books"
This one is at 175 Gr for its weight. It does use WST. the bullet in question is #401043
OAL is set at 1.125. Its # 2 Alloy if that matters to you. It looks like a Trunucated Cone bullet to me or flat point? Also, looks to be a Tumble Lube version.

Anyways, The charge for WST is,

Start 4.8
FPS - 944
Pressure C.U.P - 18,300

MAX Charge - 6.3 Gr
FPS - 1094
Pressure C.U.P - 22,900

Also, It shows the regular version of this same bullet weight and profile but that one does not show a charge of WST. I don't know why but I hope this helps you. Please be cautious and work up slowly.

[/b] The listed loads are a maximum charge. Take care and work up the load in your gun. I, Nor the members of THR nor THR.ORG will be held responsible for your actions. Yeah, My legal stuff needs practice but you get the idea. Have fun and be safe.
