I recently acquired a substantial quantity of Unique powder and casting equipment from my Dad who is no longer into reloading due to health problems. Does anyone have a good load for 40 S&W using Unique and a 175gr. cast SWC bullet. These will be shot through a H & K USP and/or a S&W MP, rarely a Glock. I am looking for a good practice/target load and don't especially need to make major PF. I will be using a Dillon XL650 press. Any cautions or advice appreciated.

I use 5.3gr behind a 170gr cast bullet in my M&P, and it works well. Be aware that you need to be careful with the Glock and cast bullets, due to the polygonal rifling.

I do not buy into the "Polygonal rifling" theory causing problems in Glocks.

I have been shooting Linotype cast Lyman #401043, 38-40 173 grain bullets over 5.8 grains of Unique for 11 years in my Glock 23. It is a powerful load, and is very accurate. And there is no leading whatsoever.

The problem with Glocks, especially older ones like mine, is that they were designed in such a way that they can fire out of battery.
By as much as 3/32"!

Lead bullet shavings can accumulate in the chamber headspace shoulder, and hold the slide open further and further, until you clean it all out and start over again.

SO, the unsupported chamber gets even more unsupported as fouling holds the slide open further and further.

Keep it clean, and shoot hard bullets, and it works just as well as jacketed bullets.
