I'm working on some .40 S&W Target Loads using both Rainier 165gr. & 180gr. FP's. From what I've read they are to be loaded like lead or as Starting Loads for jacketed.
I tried 6.5 grains of Power Pistol with a COAL of 1.120" on some 165's. I liked them out of both a Sig P226 and Beretta 96.
I tried 6.0 grs. of Unique same COAL on some 180's. Not so accurate out of the Beretta. Going to reduce down to 5.6 grains.
The Lyman Manual and Speer Manual are way far part. Is it because Lyman keeps all the loads at 22,000 psi and Speer goes higher? I'd just as soon not beat my pistols up for target shooting.
Just would like some Lite Loads for Unique with Rainier 180's.
