i am new to the forum, but i really enjoy reading. i have a smith and wesson
military and police 4 inch nickel 41 magnum, 99 % in box with all papers.
does anyone know its worth? i paid 350 dollars for it. i also just bought
a python , 1978 or so, v514xx. i am really happy with it so far.

maybe a little high priced but it should be a good shooter. a 4 inch 41 mag is one of the best all around revolvers there is. I have a M-57 4 inch and it is a keeper

That is a great deal. I have seen them on gun show tables approaching $500 without box. It is certainly worth an easy $450 for the 41mag lover.

You made out like a bandit! The asking price on M58s is pretty much regional. I paid $350 for a blued shooter. I've seen them go from $350 to $800 for basically the same NIB blued M58. I wish I'd paid what you did for my nickled M58(NIB). You might also check www.smith-wessonforum.com also.

You, "stole eggs and bought it!" (As my father used to say, may God rest his soul.) That's on heck of a deal! The .41 Remington Magnum is the "Rodney Dangerfield" of revolver cartridges! Loaded properly, it can do anything that the .44 Remington Magnum can do, without the prohibitive muzzel and barrel/cylinder gap blast emitted by its "bigger brother." When it comes to handloading for the cartridge, you will find yourself in paradise! While there are limited projectiles being cast/made for the round, it should be easy To find one that will shoot well in your revolver and perform as you wish! It can do everything from personal defense, (there are perfect factory rounds loaded for this purpose) to hunting medium-size game up through Black Bear.

You got a terrific deal. The last four inch Model 57 I saw went for $565, and I thought that wasn't completeley outrageous.

I paid more for my nickel M58 four years ago and thought I got a fairly good deal. I'd buy another for $350 in a flash, if I could find one.

Mine shoots 210-230 grain LSWC bullets loaded over enough Unique to push them at around 1,000 fps very well.

I have a Ted Blocker holster and a El Paso Saddlery "Street Combat" holster that fit the M58.

i don't care what mine are worth, i am not selling them. you get yours wrung out and i'd bet it won't be for sale either. enjoy

That sounds like a great deal to me! The last couple nickle model 58's that I've seen for sale have been on the high side of $600.

You STOLE that model 58. They are getting real hard to find these days. I have the adjustable sight brother to it the model 57. Mine was a shooter grade until I polished it a bit. Great caliber..I like the .41 mag. Much more than a .44 Mag. Mine came with the case shown as most model 57's.The .41 mag. Caliber never caught on fully as it was over shadowed by the mighty .44 Mag. The model 57 & 58 are highly sought after gun's.. keep it and be happy you have found one in great shape as I LOVE mine.. Hammerdown.

Unfortunatly that is the way all S&W's from the past are headed. I also see that Nickel has taken a BIG jump in the past couple of years. they do NOT make nickel anymore so it is a wise investment. Best regards, Hammerdown
