Was not! They had single shots that went over 12 bore...

Now if you want to discuss revolvers... :neener: :D

And I'll have you know that my hands have actually touched a real one... :what:

But darn, they wouldn't let me keep it... :(

Yeah BUT.... I got a .62 cal flinter, I could stoke that sum wicket awfull bad ya know. Did someone say revolver?

When I get back to Wyoming in a few weeks I won't ever even click on this site or any other gun forum. Right now I click on them because I'm bored and just passing time

Ah, come on now, you can't live without this forum and you know it. I'm betting you'll be back even when you're up in the boonies, unless they don't have electricity up there.

But I know what you mean - the only reason I read your stuff is 'cause I'm bored and passing time, too.

In the Lyman data there are a couple of possible reasons the Ruger data is faster. First of all, I'd caution that reading any chronograph data as absolute is risky. You need to take into account the spread in the data and look at the statistical results. The only absolute you can count on is to take the data spread value for the Ruger and subtract it from the Ruger average, then take the data spread value for the Walker and add it to the average for that gun, and then comparing those numbers; you can then say the Ruger is X fps OR MORE faster than the Walker.

In light of such overwheming evidence, it is clear that when compared to the Ruger Old Army, Miss walker is a second class citizen.

:D

Mr Gentleman of the Whatever...
I remember you, too. You're the guy that lives and dies for that poorly designed Walker. There's a reason Colt only made 1100 of the buggers. Compare that to the 36 year run of the ROA...
It must be tough coming on a forum looking for a fight and no takers these past few months.
Well, bye, Mr Gentleman.

You guys are going to start a war. :what:  :D

Concerning my personal experience and enlightment concerning the previously mentioned original Walker.

On the first occasion I was at a large national-level collector's show, and a friend introduced me to the individual that owned the revolver. That introduction allowed me to touch, feel and handle. Like the one mentioned here it was in about 75% condition, but was devoid of most of the original finish. Some might be surprised to learn that the original cylinders weren't blued, but shipped in-the-white.

A second occasion was at an NRA Convention held in Phoenix. The NRA's Collector's Division had a display that included 8 ot 10 Pattersons (some cased) and several Walkers - including one of Walker's own pair! No, I didn't get to handle any of these. By the way, if an NRA Convention comes to your neck of the woods be sure to go. This collection and much, much more will probably be there and free for the seeing. It is an experience you will never forget.

Oh, and before I forget it, at the same convention I also handled and exained a prototype 1851 Navy chambered in .40 caliber, not .36 ...

Serial number 1.  ;)

Not me, I like the old coddger. He is a square block trying to fit in a round hole, and so to me he is great! Now I have no idea if he likes me or not, but then as a cheaper biker tramp I don't much care.

If I get to see any originals i will be sure to have my best white gloves..

Yep, I like the Walker. Lots of fun at the range but I wish I could come up with some real black powder.

Like Fuff, I have handled a real one once. Truly impressive to see something like that sitting there and to touch it. What 155 years old or so?

Impressive guns and I love to shoot mine.

There goes that durned lever, again. Have read that such is prone to occur, with the Walkers – old and new.

Not, that it’d stop me from wanting to come into possession of one… (Yep, only one weekend, with the new ’58 and am, already, considering becoming a BP arms polygamist.)

Ruger and Walker square off:
Ruger: My balls are bigger
Walker: My barrel is longer
Ruger: your lever is limp
Walker: I pack more powder
Ruger: your momma was a Paterson
Walker: at least I know who my momma was
Ruger: you're history
Walker: you have none
Ruger: I have real springs, not those V shaped pieces of steel
Walker: you'll never lose my big springs
And on and on and on...

History and authenticism be darned, I wish I had a Ruger Old Army. I have two other Ruger revolvers and i fully expect my great grandchildrens kids will be shooting them. I doubt my Italian reproductions will be going strong then.

For some reason, I don't equate guns with sexy. Sheep - now you're talking.
I like all of the BP guns I have, and the ones I don't have yet. I don't know how the heck all this my-gun's-better-than-your gun started, but it must look pretty silly to outsiders.

maybe the Walker would like a little viagra for the limp rod?

Really i would have a bad day putting up with that bit of non-sence. What do you guys to to fix it?

I have never had the pleasure, but i would not tolerate that act for a second.

The first thing that comes to mind is adding a leather disk on each side of that rammer and making a few spares in case. The problem is getting the leather wet in terms iof cleaning, and not really wanting to get it wet when cleaning.

perhaps there is a better way??
