I was at the store and saw these in a box from CCI, they look just like they're smaller brothers from CCI in .22 mag shot shell (snake shot).

Anyone know anything about this round? Could it be harmful to a gun?

I'm sure they have a level of lethality, but I suppose they are mainly for other dangerous creatures larger than snakes? Just curious, maybe they'd only be good for a neat-o factor effect

Shot shells won't harm your firearm, since the shot cartridge doesn't break until it's beyond the muzzle. They're good for stopping snakes to a distance of about ten or twelve feet. They'd probably be useful on household rats and mice, although I'd guess the shot would damage walls, carpeting, floors, woodwork, et cetera. They're definitely not useful for self-defense.

I've used the .38 special versions for field mice and they do work. But watch bouncing shot off hard surfaces. They would inflict a wicked, wicked wound on someone and cost a great deal in medical bills. But they wouldn't do much to stop an attack.

I have used them thru a 10.5" Ruger Super Blackhawk. With this combo you can kill rats from a tractor seat as they flee a bushhog mower. They have 174 #9 shot pellets, which is nearly 40 more than the CCI 357/38 shot shells. I also killed a rattlesnake from about 6 steps with one last summer. That was good news, now I just tote the SBH instead of a .410 Rem 870 for rattlesnake.
