Does anyone have an AR chambered in .45 ACP? I was wondering because I'm interested in the platform but I haven't been able to find any pictures or information on them.
If you have one, can you post pictures?
Much appreciated.
Also, how is the platform? What kind of recoil do you get firing .45 our of a rifle that size? I don't know if anyone can answer this question, but what's the recoil like on full-auto?

The only place I've seen selling them is Olympic Arms, and they are using 10 round modified uzi magazines.

Recoil, lets look at what we do know.
-HK USC or UMP (one of my "someday" rifles)is .45 and weighs 9.75 lbs the recoil looks managable even in high bursts, (see video on HK-Pro site)

-The classic "Tommy" gun in at 10.6 to 10.8 lbs, I let you find your own video doe that one. you-tube it.

- oh yah one more the new Kriss Super V (set to hit civillan market this year iirc) it is different in design and has a unique recoil that is downward not back in to the shooter. The class-III is 5.06 lbs and I bet expensive.

-and the CX4 Storm from Beretta 5.75 lbs

I don't own one, but I've fired one. It shoots like a pussycat-- very nice and so little resoil it's not worth mentioning. As a pure shooter it's lighter than the Thompson, by pounds, and it seemed to shoot just as well with better ergonomics and manual-of-operation (or what I call the "user interface").

Haven't tried one on full-auto, but I'm sure it would be just dandy assuming you had a lot of ammo to dispose.

Thanks Omnivore. And Bond.
I'm really looking for pictures, to use as a reference and to get ideas. I saw a picture once of a .45 AR that had the entire body shortened for the round. I thought it was cool and I've been trying to find the picture.
I think it was someone on here, they posted it in the same picture as another .45 AR of the Uzi mag type.

There aren't going to be any full auto Kriss Super Vs for sale on the civilian market- registry was closed in '86.

I have a batch one AR45, havent got it built yet though. It uses standard AR15 parts, with the exception of the mag catch which is proprietary.

I would reccomend holding off on it. Since Justin doesnt have a manufacturer's license, we had to buy the 10% lowers from him, and Mitchell at Khalan Weaponry finished the lowers for us.

There have been numerous about complaints about Mitch. Lack of communication being one of them. Out of spec lowers being another.

Bazooka Bros also has a lower to use GG mags, however a mag catch slot has to be milled into the mag body (one comes with the lower, IIRC). It looks like a GG magwell bolted to an AR15 lower. It also uses oly style uppers. If you cant mill the slot for the mag catch on new mags, a local machine shop or gunsmith should be able to for a small fee.

The oly .45 carbine uses 41AE UZI mags, which are hard to find and expensive when you do. I think oly is looking to make their own mags, or have them made for them, but dont know if the ball ever got rolling.

If not for Mitch at KW, the AR45 would be the best thing going in terms of a .45ACP AR.

You have a few options:
1) Get a 10% from Justin and finish it yourself, if you're able to do so.

2) Wait untill Justin and Bill find someone else to finish their lowers, I know they've talked to a company or two about this, but havent heard anything solid, so I'll leave names out.

3) Get a 10% now, and have it finished later.

4) Get the BAZ45 lower.

5) Use the plastic Cav Arms lower and the Hahn block to use GG mags.

If you want one soon, the BAZ45 lower looks like its going to be the best option, I dont know the current legal staus of Cav Arms so I dont know how easy their lowers are to come by. Personally I dont care much for a plastic lower that doesnt offer any options as to the grip and stock.
