45 ACP with tight group

Got lucky today. Wife is in Augusta and found a few pounds of H335 and HP38. I’ll burn this titegroup and be good to go.

Curious what y’all may run to get better case fill? 4.6 grains of TG leaves a lot of room for a double charge.

I usually use 5.x grains of W231 (same as your HP-38) and sometimes VV N-320 in the 45acp. I've intentionally put a double charge in a case to see what it would look like with both powders, and I can tell you it is noticeable.

4.6 gr Titegroup with Xtreme 230 gr RN, COL 1.250" works well for me in 1911
Looks exactly what i am reloading for the blackhawk(revolver). Shot the better part of a box (50 )of this this morning. Was not all that accurate but not blaming the powder, has worked fine for me in the past. Blackhawk did warm up but not too bad but noticeable. Did not seem unusually dirty , or smoky (indoor range).

Almost any other powder has better case fill. Clays, WST, Red dot, N320. They’re a bit faster than 231 or 244. Personally I like WST or N320. Others say N310 is another great powder to try. These are for lighter/target loads, although my WST load does make major PF.

Mostly i use clays for .45acp. i have been keeping an eye open for red dot but not so much i am willing to pay haz mat and shipping.. In other words i just look around in gun ranges and stores. Maybe when hell freezes over in other words.

I'm pretty sure I could be pretty happy with green and blue dot. Make almost anything go. I'm not excited by faster powders but a cheap can of promo would not be passed up.
