The nearby gunshop has been out of actual .45 acp bullets for a long time and may never get any more. Has anybody worked up a safe load for Bear Creek .452 255 gr RNFP Colt bullets in .45acp? Unforunately I can buy a minimum of 500 bullets, so if they won't load I'm up doo doo creek. Help appreciated, I'm getting desperate!

It may work in many guns.
Not in others.

There are a few problems you may encounter.
That is a very heavy bullet for use in a .45 ACP.
So, it probably won't shoot where the sights are looking.

That long a bullet takes up a lot of case capacity, so velocity will be low.

And you could find case bulges at the base of the bullet prevents chambering in tight chambered guns.

I'd certainly never say never, but I'd also hate to buy 500 bullets only to find my particular gun won't chamber them.

Anyway, proper .45 ACP bullets in several weights & styles are available & in stock from http://www.missouribullet.com/results.php?category=5&secondary=13
at very attractive prices, and with very speedy shipping.

If a .45 ACP Chambering Revolver...should be fine.

Kinda heavy for an Autoloader though.

Maybe see if they will send a couple Sample Bullets, and see how they fit or chamber and so on.

On another forum there are a few threads dealing with heavier than normal boolits in the 45 ACP. So yes, it can be done.

What firearm are you using? As has been said, for a revolver it is not a problem. I use the 454424 and the 454190 boolits in my revovlers (ACP and long Colt) but since I do not own an auto pistol for 45 ACP have never tried to load for one.

Unique seems to be the powder of choice mentioned in the threads.
