Has anybody tried these? I'm not sure why this interests me but I can't help but think this would be fun, if not particularly useful.

That's probably Rhinelands' conversion. I have one just haven't put it together yet. They are supposed to be a pretty well done set-up. Go over to www.falfiles.com and look him up.

Not to spoil your fun if you just want a pistol caliber Mauser, but if you have a 1911, perhaps a cheaper, easier and more useful way to get a 45ACP carbine would be a Mec-tec upper.

Yep, that's the Rhineland conversion. They're pretty neat, although it's a subjective opinion on my part. Some folks don't think so.
