I don't reload but thought this might be the forum to ask this question.

Where is the cheapest place to get pre-loaded lead round nose 45LC ammo for cowboy action shooting?

The cheapest I've found was at a local gun show $13 per 50 (reloads) and a small local store $16.95 per 50 (Winchester SASS)

I have looked on natchez, cheaperthandirt, ammoman, ammunitionstore, outdooramerica, outdoormarksman, websites.

Thanks

Cheapest I have found is at gun shows, $12.50 for remanufactured. I am buying dies and lead at the next gun show I go to. I am starting to get a good store of brass now. I just started CAS and love it so I will add .45 Colt to my reloading bench

The cheapest that I know of is National Bullet Company. What you do is send them 500 pieces of 45 Colt brass and they will reload your brass for you with either a 200 grain RNFP or 250 grain RNFP bullet for $78 plus shipping. That comes out to $7.80 per box of 50 plus shipping. The price would be $130 per 1000 which is $6.50 per box of 50.

Shipping your brass to them would cost less than $4.00 by USPS and shipping 500 rounds of reloaded ammunition from Ohio to San Fransisco, CA costs $26.30 via UPS Ground.

That is about $22 savings for 5000 rounds versus $13.00 a box from the gun show. The savings will be more if you live closer.

Start loading your own! I can reload .45 Colt for cowboy shooting for about $3.50/box. The cheapest I can buy them is $12.50/box. The savings add up fast.

By the way, you don't want "round nose" bullets for cowboy shooting -- you want round nose flat point ("RNFP", aka "LRNFP"). RNFP are like RN but with the tip chopped off. You need the FP variety because it is not safe to load true round nose bullets in the tubular mags of CAS rifles.

Go to know about the RNFP "Father" I was going to look for lead this weekend.

Thanks

boo586 thanks for the info. I'll try to find the National Bullet Co. Deal.

As for reloading my own, I do not have room. Too much junk already and the wife would be none to happy if I invaded another counter top or table.

I symphasize with your lack of space for reloading! I load my pistol ammo (and rifle except for full length resizing) on one of the 24" x 18" folding Black and Decker workbenches with 3/4" plywood fastened to the top! Holds everything except my powder scale to check the drum measure sits on a separate table. Works fine. :D
