One of the things that really, really bugs me about the NRA is that they don't often cite where they got a particular stat or quote. That's just as bad as the VPC or Brady Bunch in my book.
45 percent is kind of misleading. Id rather see a number of states that have a percentage of homeowners with firearms in them.
For instance, here in Arkansas Im sure that the "average" number of people that own firearms is higher here than in other states.
Consider the fact that NYC has approx. 7.5 million people in it, vs the 2.5 million here in Ar. One predominatley antigun city in the north has dang near 3 times the population of my whole state, but Id bet you a Coke that Arkansas has more firearms in than NYC.
And one other thing...
How many here would respond to a survey that asked youy how many firearms you owned ?
Call me simple, but I wouldnt do it. I'd bet that alot of posters on here wouldnt do it , so it stands to reason that there's a whole lot more guns out there than people realize, but thats not nessecarily a "bad thing" etheir...
they might be counting gun sale records. Hell I'd be suprised if there where 45 gun owners at all here in Md. Also remeber the NRA can say a house with a single .22, or grandpa's old break open single shot shotgun is a home with a gun in it.
