.45 question

Is there any other .45 auto out there that is more reliable with ALL loads other than the 4506 S&W? I have a S&W 4506 no dash that was used by the Tulsa Co Ok Sheriffs Dept that is like a Timex. It just keeps on ticking, no matter what. This pistol eats every load I feed it like candy. Yes, I know it weighs a ton and is big, but I'll give up weight/size for something that is stone cold reliable anyday. Wish I knew the history of this particular pistol, I know it has sure seen some use, but I don't care, I'll keep feeding it whenever I get a chance.

In that order of my personal exp. Not saying they are more reliable then your personal gun just that in my exp. they are more reliable overall.

Ruger P90 or P97 (I've heard issues with the new .45 they make but those two are good). I don't have personal experience, (I might soon, in a week or two ) but from all the reviews I've heard, it's reliable with all ammo, and built (and looks like) a tank. I also heard it's (P90) as accurate out of the box as some high end 1911's.

Hold onto that gun and don't let go.
There may be guns that are more reliable on average than your model gun, but not necessarily more reliable than yours in particular. Yours has proven to be reliable. Keep it.

Definitely a SIG P220A~! I've had mine for many year's, and its
been a steady performer.

The big S&W .45s have a great reputation for feeding any and everything regardless of bullet design. When S&W first came out with their .45 guns a factory rep show including running empty brass thru them showing that even with such a large, sharp, short cartridge like an empty case that their .45s would even run that brass.
S&W autos are under-rated. They aren't the gee whiz, plastic, latest design. They're basically the same design as the originaly 39 which was first built in 1953. A few mods but basically the same gun. And they work.
I carried a 645 as primary and a 457 as back up for a couple of years when I was commanding 2 drug task forces. I still carry them now as my CCW.

In my hands my HK USP 45 & Expert 45 have been absolutely perfect...23,000+ rounds between the two of them & not a single hiccup!

H&K USP. It is highly priced for a reason...it will ALWAYS work.

Smiths are great guns.

My Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro has fed everything I've thrown through it without a hiccough.

Ditto with my old Detonics. It'll even feed empty cases.

I have a Colt 1991, 1991 Commander, Officers ACP, and series 70 custom. All Colts feed everything I put through it.
