I noticed that Sierra lists a load for 240g. JHC bullets using Lil'gun down to 19g. @ 1100fps. And 26.2g. @1400fps. Anyone load Lil'gun down that low in a 454? I'm looking for a good powder for around 1300-1400fps. I'm also considering tite group. With 11g. it should give about 1300fps.

Start at 12 grains of Herco and work up from there til you get what you want (you've got quite a bit of headroom.) It delivers about 1300 fps in a .45 Colt using 250 grain lead bullets. (which is a *very* hot .45 Colt load, but nothing for a Casull)

You asked specifically about Lil Gun and Tite Group, so I surmise those are what you want to use. Based on .45 LC experience, which should translate to the Casull pretty well, Tite Group works well for those lighter loads in that bullet weight range. Can't comment on Lil Gun.

probably could be done but ive allways found that lilgun doesnt give good accuracy loaded down. Youd be much better off with something like 2400

Well, as a point of reference, consider that the Hodgdon data for that same bullet in .45 Colt starts at 27 grains. Pressure at 27 grains for the smaller .45 Colt case is 23,800 CUP. 19 grains in a larger case? Gah. I've never tried loading Lil' Gun even remotely that low, but I'm guessing those loads are useless.

I'll echo what others have said. I've had good luck with Titegroup for plinker loads in .45 Colt. If you're looking for more of a middle ground with regard to burn rate, something like 2400 or AA#9 would be good.

I just bought some lil' gun for full power loads and tite group so that's why I asked about those. I think I'll try some 2400 and tite group. My goal is great accuracy @ around 1300-1400fps for whitetail hunting. Thanks

Maybe I was too quick to dismiss. I glanced at a Taffin article on Lil Gun I've used for a reference for some of my Lil Gun loads, and he was getting good accuracy with some lower level loads with Noslers (20 grains under a 250 grain) in a .45 Colt case. I still suspect 19 grains in a .454 case is running at too low a pressure, but I'd at least try running them with 25 or 26 grains of the Lil Gun before switching powders.

I think you will have ignition problems with LilGun in those low loads wiith the large casull cases ! I switched to 800X for my lowrange loads using the Casull case and 200grain bullets ! My 240 grain jhp /Lilgun loads are around 35 grains of powder ! Kevin

250xtp, 26g lil gun, 1 1/2" - 3 shot group @ 60yd. Seems like a good start.

No speed numbers yet, the weather here has been lousy. Hopefully this weekend.

Most accutate medium load seems to be 27.0 gr. with the 250xtp's. Consistant 3/4"-1" groups @ 60yd. approx 1400fps. with my Ruger SRH 1.5-4 Burris scope. Not bad.
