CAUTION: The following thread includes posts of loading data tested in my guns chambered for this cartridge.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.
This being said, NONE of these loads are compressed.
All loads locked back after last round, there were no failure to eject, no failure to feed, no stovepipes, no problems at all in MY gun.
All loads at their respective COL's had (to me) a mild/moderate felt recoil. YMMV
Here are the guidelines I will be using: 10 yards, sitting, open sights, MTM pistol rest, target has 1" grid lines and 1" bullseye, 5 rounds at each powder weight.
I will be shooting a Sig-Sauer 1911 XO 45cal, 5" barrel, stock 19# recoil spring for all range work.
I found these loads to be Good to Excellent accuracy except for Load# 16-03-019 which was only Fair.
My definition of Flyers is shooter error, not holding steady on target, so I will give my opinions on accuracy based on best of 4 out of 5 shots where there are obvious Flyers outside the group.
The bullets I will be using are:
.45 230 Gr. RMR Hardcore Match Round Nose Plated (I will abbreviate to RMR HMP-RN) Thanks Dudedog & vaalpens for these bullets!
.45 185 Gr. RMR Round Nose Plated Flat Point (I will abbreviate to RMR FP)
Thanks Dudedog for these bullets!
.45 230 Gr. BERRY'S Round Nose (I will abbreviate to BERRY RN)Thanks Vince for these bullets!
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Hollow Base Flat Point (I will abbreviate to BERRY HB-FP)
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Semi Wad Cutter (I will abbreviate to BERRY SWC)
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Target Hollow Point (I will abbreviate to BERRY T-HP)
.45 185 Gr. Hornady XTP, Thanks Dudedog for these bullets!
I finally purchased a 45acp pistol. It is a Sig-Sauer 1911 XO Stainless Steel 45acp.
I got it on CLEARANCE as a discontinued model, payed 1/2 the Sig-Sauer MSRP!!
And couldn't be happier with my choice.
Broke it in with 650 rounds factory ammo (CCI Blazer .45ACP 230 Grain FMJ, Fiocchi .45 ACP 230 Grain FMJ, Winchester Target .45 ACP 230gr FMJ-FN and Prvi Partizan .45 ACP 230 Grain FMC).
I had no failures of any kind with any of the different brands I used
So, here are my results:
Load# 16-03-001, 230gr RMR HMP-RN, HP-38 4.7gr, CCI500 primer, BLAZER brass, 1.210" COL (4 = <1" group, 5 = 1.33" group MILD recoil Thanks to Dudedog for this suggested load!!)
Load# 16-03-002B, 230gr RMR HMP-RN, BULLSEYE 3.8gr, CCI500 primer, BLAZER brass, 1.210" COL (5 = 1.5" X 1.5" group MODERATE recoil)
Load# 16-03-003, 230gr RMR HMP-RN, RS/COMP 4.0gr, CCI500 primer, BLAZER brass, 1.210" COL (4 = 1" group, 5 = 1.5" group MILD recoil)
