CAUTION: The following thread includes posts of loading data tested in my guns chambered for this cartridge.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

This being said, NONE of these loads are compressed.
All loads locked back after last round, there were no failure to eject, no failure to feed, no stovepipes, no problems at all in MY gun.

All loads at their respective COL's had (to me) a mild/moderate felt recoil. YMMV

Here are the guidelines I will be using: 10 yards, sitting, open sights, MTM pistol rest, target has 1" grid lines and 1" bullseye, 5 rounds at each powder weight.
I will be shooting a Sig-Sauer 1911 XO 45cal, 5" barrel, stock 19# recoil spring for all range work.

I found these loads to be Good to Excellent accuracy except for Load# 16-03-019 which was only Fair.
My definition of Flyers is shooter error, not holding steady on target, so I will give my opinions on accuracy based on best of 4 out of 5 shots where there are obvious Flyers outside the group.

The bullets I will be using are:
.45 230 Gr. RMR Hardcore Match Round Nose Plated (I will abbreviate to RMR HMP-RN) Thanks Dudedog & vaalpens for these bullets!
.45 185 Gr. RMR Round Nose Plated Flat Point (I will abbreviate to RMR FP)
Thanks Dudedog for these bullets!
.45 230 Gr. BERRY'S Round Nose (I will abbreviate to BERRY RN)Thanks Vince for these bullets!
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Hollow Base Flat Point (I will abbreviate to BERRY HB-FP)
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Semi Wad Cutter (I will abbreviate to BERRY SWC)
.45 200 Gr. BERRY'S Target Hollow Point (I will abbreviate to BERRY T-HP)
.45 185 Gr. Hornady XTP, Thanks Dudedog for these bullets!

I finally purchased a 45acp pistol. It is a Sig-Sauer 1911 XO Stainless Steel 45acp.
I got it on CLEARANCE as a discontinued model, payed 1/2 the Sig-Sauer MSRP!!
And couldn't be happier with my choice.

Broke it in with 650 rounds factory ammo (CCI Blazer .45ACP 230 Grain FMJ, Fiocchi .45 ACP 230 Grain FMJ, Winchester Target .45 ACP 230gr FMJ-FN and Prvi Partizan .45 ACP 230 Grain FMC).
I had no failures of any kind with any of the different brands I used:D

So, here are my results:
Load# 16-03-001, 230gr RMR HMP-RN, HP-38 4.7gr, CCI500 primer, BLAZER brass, 1.210" COL (4 = <1" group, 5 = 1.33" group MILD recoil Thanks to Dudedog for this suggested load!!)

Thank you for taking the time to look over my (LONG) results, any and all comments are welcome!!

I worked up this data for punching holes in paper at the range, some of these loads will be worked on, but I think I have found some accurate, mild to moderate recoil load data that will be fun to shoot in a long range day.

Next load development report will be for 38spl target loads. (Comming soon vaalpens:D)
JD

PS
YES, there are 5 holes in each target!!

Looks good! Mimics my results, for the most part! And congrats on the new Sig 1911! I love mine...

Thanks for the detailed report!

Thank you for taking the time to post all your data.

Did you by any chance check velocity of any of those loads?

ArchAngelCD,
No velocity report, I just received Dudedog's "experienced" chrono, but our indoor range is not "chrono friendly".
So when the weather gets better I will include velocity data in my reports.
JD

Looks like you and the SIG 1911 are getting along well :) (great deal by the way!)
Nice shooting!

Now you need to get a 1911 in 9mm to keep the other one company.
Really like my Springfield "Loaded" in 9mm, favorite fun gun.

I should have the vels for the RMR 230s with 4.7 of HP38 but I need to dig them up. (If I don't I will get them)
I like that load, it shoots well for me and is pleasant to shoot.

Thanks for all the results, I appreciate the your time and effort to post for us all.
I have some chrono numbers, not exact matches however.
did not get to test everything I wanted to when I did these
Mixed range brass, Winchester LP, Citadel 1911 5"
Charges are as thrown, I did not weigh each individual charge.

Something is not right here, these values do not match the data.

Thanks for reporting your results.

Congratulations on the Sig 1911 XO and doing the comparison range test! I find comparison tests to yield additional information that is quite useful for load development.

My railed Sig 1911 XO is approaching 10,000 round count and without any parts breakage - Only thing I have done is replace the recoil spring. (FYI, according to Sig customer service, all 5" Sig 1911s are built on stainless steel frame and slide with match barrels).

Around 7,000 round count, Sig maintained accuracy to produce below 1" group at 15 yards and 2" group at 25 yards with my "plinking" load of 200 gr MBC SWC (12 BHN Bullseye #1) and 4.0 gr of Promo loaded to 1.240".

jell-dog,

Thanks for posting your results. It must have taken a few hours to pull everything together to share.

Great shooting as always, and it looks like the shooter and gun are performing. Now it is just some of the loads that needs to catch up.

I have never used RS/Comp (I assume it is Ramshot Competition), but it seems you get very good groupings with it, even with different bullets. The Bullseye loads also group very well, but it seems you always have at least one flyer with Bullseye. Is that the shooter or the load?

Congratulation with the SIG 1911. I am glad to see it has been flawless, the way they are supposed to be.

Thank you bds, Blue68f100, joneb, vaalpens and Dudedog for your comments!

Yes, a few of these loads could use more work:D

vaalpens, I have found RamShot Competition to be a clean burning powder, meters well and gives more of a push recoil than a snappy recoil, especially for heavy bullets and heavy for caliber bullets.
I usually get good accuracy using the data supplied online from RamShot found here:
http://www.ramshot.com/load-data/

Dudedog, thank you for supplying chrono data, it is greatly appreciated:D

JD

Great thread, thanks.

Any thoughts to share about the quality of the Fiocchi and Privi that were employed during the break in period?

BTW, I've been enjoying very good accuracy as well with OAL of 1.265 with three different bullet makes (platform: Taurus PT1911).

Blue68f100,
 opps I dropped the ball there big time.
Thanks for catching it. :eek::eek:
I thought I had deleted the strings from the data that had a bad read or when I forgot to change the weight.
Somehow I got things messed up copy and pasting or playing with the new computer app for the chrono. (still getting used to it, nice but kind of clunky in spots, can only delete the last shot fired, retains bullet weight from previous string...however it boils down to user error)

Hikingman,
First, thank you for your comments:D

The Fiocchi and Privi ammo all went boom, none malfunctioning in my Sig 1911XO.
Sorry, but as far as accuracy, I didn't keep track, I was shooting at bad-guy torso targets and all the ammo I tried seemed to be fairly accurate at 10 to 15 yards.

As this is a new platform for me, I'm sure I caused all the flyers:D

The COL's I used are the WORKING COL's I found to pass plunk test in my barrel and fit my mags.
I could use COL 1.265" for the BERRY 230 gr RN, but the 230gr RMR HMP-RN have a very round, blunt ogive so I needed to it seat to 1.210" to pass plunk test.
