I bought some 185gr FP plated bullets (from X-treme Bullets) and I'm trying to find a load for them using WSF.

None of my manuals, nor the Hodgdon website (which the Winchester website has the loads for their powders) has any loads for 185gr FP bullets. I did find a load for 230gr FP bullets, and comparing SWC loads to FP loads to RN loads for WSF, I see that the FP are a little more than SWC and a little less than RN.

Since I'm not looking for anywhere near a max load, I'm not that concerned for the range of loads I plan to try. But I'd feel better with more specific data.

Does anyone have any published loads for 185gr FP bullets with WSF in 45ACP? Does anyone have any personal experience using this bullet weight/powder combination?

Is WSF w SUPER FLD? If so, my book has some load data for that bullet.

From Speer #13 with CCI 300 primer:
WSF: Start 6.9 gr. 814 fps, MAX 7.7 gr. 885 fps

Sierra with Fed 150 primer:
WSF (gr./velocity): 6.5/750, 6.8/800, 7.1/850, 7.4/900, 7.7/950, 8.0/1000

Disclaimer: As I have no control over how others conduct their reloading process or over which equipment or components they choose to use, the reader must assume all responsibilty for the safety of their reloaded ammunition.

Have fun & be safe! beerchug.gif

I just rechecked mine and what I saw was for a jacketed bullet not a plated bullet. Big difference.

Actually for the X-treme bullets, they recommend using info for jacketed bullets. Their plating is pretty heavy.

Thanks Jacka, my planned testing was in that range. I'm happy to confirm it.

WST will work very well with your 185 Gr. bullets as well. It shoots very well in my gun. If you want top velocity the WSF will work better. I am going to try some WSF since WST worked so well with the 185, 200, & 230 Gr. plated bullets I tried. WST also shot lights out with the Zero 230 Gr. JHP, and I do mean lights out!! I don't give many loads 4 stars, but that one got them.!!

I have 1000 X-treme 225 Gr. FP's on the way. I'm looking forward to trying them.

Link for Winchester data for WST, WSF & W231 for 185 through 230 Gr. Bullets.

Start in the middle of the 185 JHP data and work up.:)
