Ok I have heard so much of what the 4th generation Glock is going to be. Different checkering, ambi mag release, manual safety? I have tried to find a picture of the new pistol on the web and came up dry. Does anyone have any more info or a link to the picture?

This it? Doesn't look that much different than the current ones other than the pattern on the sides of the grip. May be because I'm used to the "old" glocks but I think the new grips make an already homely gun even uglier. And this from a glock fan.

That's it? Wow what an engineering triumph. Is an optional manual safety such a hard concept to grasp? I like Glocks, but those are pretty minor changes to call a new generation except I guess for the ambi mag release.

I thought thinner was just for the .45 If they go thinner for all of them none of the old mags will work. Mag availability for older Glocks? They would have to have 2 widths in production.
I don't know if they are going to do the "SF" (Short Frame) grip reduction thing with all the new models this time around or not. If so it will make the grip shorter front to back (less "hump" on backl), not thinner on the sides. I do like the 21 and 30SF 45's as compared to the regular models. I'm hoping the other calibers follow suit.
The mag issue is not related to the grip change at all, only the ambi mag release. New and old mags will both work in non-ambi mag release models. Only the new mags will work in new ambi release models. The 21 SF is available both with and without the ambi release, still waiting to hear on the 4th generation guns.

The old ones always worked fine.Well from somebody with 5 Glocks I do have to say that I think they will benefit from the grip texturing (each and every one of mine wears grip tape). Still yeah, kinda dissapointing to me. Even the new slide grooves look like a bad copy cat job
I was hoping the 4th generation would improve grip texture, get rid of the finger grooves, and bring the tapered muzzel of the Sub-compacts to the full and compact models. Looks like I got one out of three. Not enough to make me want to buy a new model.

uh... i don't really see a difference worth retooling over.
i really don't know what i can expect them (Glock) to do, though. i mean, in all honesty, the 3rd Gen is just right. if there's any small changes that one desires, they're easily accomodated by the wide selection of go-fast goodies flooding the internet.
so, i agree, calling that a 4th Gen is a little silly. however, i don't see any need for them to release a 4th Gen

That pic is most likely a fake. It has been floating around the internet since '06. Do a search on google and you'll come up with a THR thread about it from like 2 years ago. And check this out, too:

I was just on the phone with Glock about a different issue, and asked them about Gen 4. I was quickly told that they don't refer to their pistols by generation. And that none of their pistols come with a manual safety. And there is no major line update. There are some changes to one particular model, but nothing revolutionary, but I don't remember what model it was.
So the bottom line is there are no "closeout" Gen 3 deals coming...
