I acquired a bunch of ammo from a friend getting out of shooting and among the huge assortment of stuff is what is marked as 5.56 Armor Piercing/Tracer. It appears as either a tip painted a combination of black and red (black like normal AP with a tip of red) or painted red like normal tracer with a black painted tip. Does such a creature exist and what's this stuff worth?!?

I dunno if there is any truth to this but, from a archived thread over on AR15.com it was said

"The red/black is a home or civilian attempt at a Soviet API type bullet marking, except the Soviet Bloc API in all calibers is black/red tipped.. Hope this helps clear it up somewhat."

outside of that post there is nothing I could find on black/red or red/black tips ammo

maybe pull one and section it?

As posted above, they are PRC rounds, and we never imported any other 5.56 loads from China than ball. And yes, that is not factory paint work. You have a handful of gunshow specials.

Roger that, as suspected. Still, best to confirm. Thanks guys.
