True.

I have earned the right to share. I have, trust me. And being a plank owner,I choose to do so with real life, true experiences, <hint> My Faulkner"style style of writing, (hso)still has a meaning...

At one point in time I was a "natural" golfer, according to some Pro's, except I was not allowed to use woods. Seriously, if the local golf pro saw my golf bag with woods, they would remove them. I was having fun with clients/principals, so I would play golf with irons only, I got to having serious fun, playing the "short nine" with a 3,5 7 iron an putter.
Pros said I was "incredible" with a 3 iron off the tee.

Me, being be, chose not to learn the woods. I was having fun, and especially having fun, making par NOT using woods.

At the time...
And, being one to take walks, and carry a "iron" or putter on these walks ...well folks that knew me, and the law that knew me, this was all a "natural" thing for me.

Once upon a time...
Oh I was carrying concealed that day, in fact two guns, but I stopped that threat with a 5 iron that day, against a punk thug with a gun.
I was just out taking a walk, and ...

Everything from: Action beats reaction, to Not everything defaults to gun d -Jeff White come to mind.

I not only stopped a threat, with NO negatives on me, I also put a thug back into the system...whom would threaten me with "if my folks don't get you, I sure will when I get out" *yawn* ( not the first threat, nor the last...and his kin did try, to "avenge" a few times...)

So, when a female THR member , "over sixty" years of age , PM'd me . in regard to visiting a daughter, whom lives in "tyranny state" ( no ccw) it come out her granddaughter had had a good time playing "putt-putt" golf , and "really really wanted grandma to take her out "putt-putting" again.

I also suggested a cane...
But a K mart putter was bought, and the granddaughter had her kids sized putter a threat presented itself. Threat was stopped. Grandma, granddaughter was safe, against a perp with gun. (so much for gun tyranny and gun laws...)

Point of this thread:

Mindset, skill sets, "then" toolsets.

And yes, I do have some irons and a putter. here on the farm...and I still take walks here on the shy of 90 acres, and country roads.

Only thing about using a putter to beat a perp is a strong male is fully capable of bending the shaft badly around a limb or trunk or head. Although I would guess interest in an attack would stop, especially on the head :neener:
But alot of attacks come en mass and there you would be standing with an oddly curved and less effective club.

Hso was probably referring as much to gang on gang violence (or at least provoked violence) as he was geography. Most gang violence is related to gang disputes...

Enjoyed your post Steve, glad you are posting this stuff :)

Not everyone I guess has the makings of a Ninja golfer.

Are you a scratch thugger?

never under estimate the damage a golf club can do.

Look at the damage to that car Jack Nicholson did when he had his little temper tantrum when he got cut off.:D

On a darker note, wasn't it the Kennedy cousin that was found guilty of murder down in Florida a few years back? He used a gold club to inflict fatal injuries on a victim.

Carl.

Club?

"Clubs don't kill people . . ."

Gotta enact some kind of club control legislation.

Impose limits on golf club purchases.

One club a month.

No clubs for yoots or felons.

Nobody "needs" more than ten clubs.

Ban evil assault clubs. Those carbon fiber thingies look too black for regular folk. Kinda scary if you ask me.

Oh -- and none of those shoulder things that go up, either.

Hehe, arfin.

Can you imagine the uproar if there was a mandatory 7 day waiting period before somebody could take home that new five wood? There would be open revolt.

It is probably for the best that you never learned to play with woods. I'd think that the head would snap right off of the wood on your first "stroke".

I like baseball bats. I can swing pretty hard with a 32-35" Louisville Slugger, I have a bag full of them that the braves used to train with a long time ago.
Although for defensive purposes I have a knife in my pocket and a gun in my bedroom..
this makes me think though, I fish at a lake where drug deals clearly occour without any consequenses, I don't call the cops because people know me, and would get mad..
I'm 14.. But I have never had trouble with the pot smokers, I just mind my own business or drive off on my golf cart.. My golf cart is a good defensive tool, it weighs about 500 lbs I'd guess and goes 20mph.. I'd be uncomfortable being ran over by it..
I might put a baseball bat under the seat of that cart though.

yeah kid you sound like you haver your head on straight and have learned to keep low. Base ball bat in the cart sounds good at 14.

I heard some troops had a lightweight bat for knocking doorknobs off, I'm a pretty clean cut kid, I would try not to resort to using a weapon, I'm pretty strong for my size 5-10" 160lbs and I don't like fights, which is why I carry an assisted opening Kershaw, or a fully automatic opening Gerber Emerson designed knife, but it's so big and surely violates some rule so I usually leave it at home.
I doubt I will ever run into trouble, I know most of the kids who don't act right from school, and I guess they are cool with me because I always get a nod of the head when I'm fishing.
I've always wanted a collapseing night stick though, but they are considered a concealed weapon.

i always have a louiville slugger in my truck with a heavily used ball and glove (i do play with my nieces and nephews in the park too)

my friend "Lou" is always there if smith, wesson, mr mossberg, mr ruger or any of his other buddies are unavailable or not alowed in the area
