I'm new to the .50 Beo and have had conflicting suggestions on primer selection. On one side with CCI #350 primers being the standard but argued against with pierced primers and unburned powder, the other side recommending WLRM primers to get full powder ignition and prevent slam fires.

I'm lost, I thought WLRM primers would sit too high in the primer pocket and cause slam fires or be too hot for published loads, is it acceptable to use WLRM or should I stick with CCI #350's and deal with pierced primers and unburned powder? Any suggestions or clarification on the safety of using WLRM primers would help seeing that I already have 1k of them.

My Lyman manuals and a few others call for a LPM primer so you are correct, using a rifle primer would not be correct. They will stand too proud.

So I did it some diligence just for learnings sake and I'm able to seat WLRM just below flush in some virgin starline brass. Reason being is that if I can mitigate slam fires using a harder cup then I'm less likely to accidentally send a 350-400 Gr. pill where it's not intended downrange. Now I'm worried about how much I should reduce the load or if it's necessary. Are pistol magnum and rifle magnum comparable in ignition or should I follow the book?
