I am curious: how bad would recoil and muzzle blast me on a Barret M82 or similar with a suppressor. Who makes cans for 50cal rifles?

Oleg,

Reflex reportedly makes one and AWC Turbodyne has one. They're supposed to make less blast for the spotter.

Here's what is written about the Reflex

"The well known recoil-action Barrett M82 with model BT8 Telescopic Reflex Suppressor is almost comfortable to shoot, regarding the suppressing effect on noise and the absence of pressure shock on shooter and spotter. Current suppressor model has an integral muzzle brake (not shown in the cut-away drawing of an earlier model) to boost the recoil brake effect. Because a suppressor adds the mass of the recoil action barrel of the M82, some shooters use a stiff spiral spring seen in the photo above between the suppressor and the receiver to further soften the felt recoil."

The Barrett M82 is not uncomfortable to shoot without a suppressor - but I have heard of complaints from people standing in back and to the side of the shooter.

Welllll, I didn't actually shoot it, but last time I was at the range a guy had a suppressed .50. Gentleman sitting next to me got to fire a couple rounds through it. Said recoil was about like a 12ga with the suppressor. About like 3 12ga's without. He also said that even with muffs and plugs it rang his ears without the suppressor attached (course this also had been shortened to an 18" barrel - a longer tube would mitigate that effect).

I have shot the AI AW50 with a JET suppressor attached. I thought that recoil was comparable to a McMillan or Armalite AR50 (both have brakes), but there was essentially no blast or concussion. IE- you get the same recoil as you would with a regular brake, but none of the other unpleasant effects.
