I... WANT.... THAT..... BARREL ! ! ! ! ! !

That is AMAZING! I LOVE the side flames that brake sends out!

I've got an Encore in .500 as well. But it's the TC one with the whimpy holes in the top of the barrel for a brake. It does NOTHING like your barrel does.

So tell me, not that I'll be able to get one up here, who makes that barrel?

I've got a no name tube style red dot on mine that has held up to about 16 to 20 rounds so far. I'm shooting the Speer 350gn JHP pushed by 42.5gns of H110. So they are only down a little from your loads out of a desire to let the brass last for a dozen or so reloads before they split. I turned a cheap 4x scope into a cool psychadelic kalaidascope after about a half dozen rounds. So I'm pretty pumped that my red dot has made it to 18 to 20 shots.... :D

Wellll you may be in luck cause my barrel is also a stainless TC, which was cut down, threaded, and had the brake installed. I bought the barrel off gunbroker, but I would assume eabco.com did the work. http://www.eabco.com/store/products/JP_Howitzer_Brake_Stainless_Installed-545-57.html

SO if you can mail it to em and wait two months you're in business! :p

My red dot held up ~25 shots before breaking. Ill find out if a leupold M8 4x holds up maybe today.

Very cool!! I just picked up an Encore pistol. Do you know if you can shoot 45LC and 454 through the 460 barrel like you can with the revolver?

I'm pretty sure if you get a .460 barrel, it will shoot .454, .45LC, and .410 shells. I would contact TC and get it in writing before shooting anything other than .460... just to be on the safe side tho.

Man... went to the range today and touched off 40rds outta this thing. I got the M8 scope sighted in, and I'm able to put it in like a 2-3" ring at 25yrds. So far its up to the task, no broken glass, but I need to blue locktite like every freakin nut and bolt on the thing to keep it together. I gotta bring a toolkit to the range to tighten up everything after a few rounds. Luckily I had some foresight and put blue locktite on the scope base.

HAHA... I catch myself flinching when shooting it tho so it takes a lot of concentration and controlled breathing to stay on point. I forgot gloves and got a little blister on my trigger finger. You gotta hold it like teacup style so your weak hand index finger doesnt get bit by the barrel release tang. What a freaking beast tho... wow. You can see the lane walls move when you touch it off. Fire shoots in to the adjacent lanes, HAHAHAH! The RO at this range was happy when I put it away... he was tellin me was making his heart skip a beat.

500

I bought one for my Encore a couple of years ago.

Yeah...that'll happen. It is a thoroughly unpleasant gun to shoot....worse than the S&W revolver.
I got mine so as to test loads for a friend. The loads involved some of the big "Tyrannosaur Thumpers" that Rick Gibson used to sell (700 grain WFNGC), over a bunch of Li'l Gun. The load Ilked the best was a 600 grainer at 1300+fps - but shooting it hurt from shot one.

I have a 500 in a H&R Handi-rifle. Most fun for $300 I've spent in firearms ever. I shoot cast lead gas check reloads exclusively.

SirSloop, the issues with transporting gun related stuff over the border these days is bad enough that I'd have to do something like this brake on my own up here or get someone up here to do up a semi close duplicate.

Plus my country's laws about short barrels means that I can't even cut off the existing, and rather ineffective, brake in prep for threading and adding such an add on muzzle brake.

So I guess I'll just need to live with what I've got.

I would research the laws a little more. Encore barrels are definitely a grey area in most lawbooks... its basically metal bar stock with a rifled hole in it. The action is considered a firearm. In the US, I can order a barrel on amazon.com and it gets delivered to my front door a couple days later.

If you interested in it, I would pursue it further. Give eabco.com a call and see what they say about their other Canadian customers. I'm sure they have them. I got my frame from them with a trigger job which IMHO was top notch job. The trigger is amazing. The craftsmanship on the brake is top notch as well, and I assume they did it.

I looked for some of those 700gr bullets, but I gotta be honest, I don't know if I would enjoy shooting them. If something ever comes along that raises my recoil tolerance level past a max loaded 350gr .500S&W magnum... Maybe i'll try some then. :) Hell I cant even get through 50rds of it without bleeding! HAHAH! I ought to look for some 325 gr bullets and stuff some extra powder in there... add some additional concussion and a little less recoil. Hand grenade loads ;)

I'll send 'em an email and see if they have registered for export permits for their wares. If they have it may work out and I may just go for it.

A guy up this way sent me some 700's. I still need to load them up and try them. I have to admit that I'm a trifle wary of what they'll be like... :D

I just flame swirled a walnut pistol forearm for the .500. I sanded it down, primed, painted yellow, swirled (theswirling.com) orange+black, sprayed solid black, sanded back down into the colors w/ 400 grit, gloss poly cleared, then buffed out.

I figured it was a fitting paint job for this fire breather. :p

I don't normally condone the abuse of the lovely patterns for wood grain given to us by Mother Nature. For me there's not much that is more beautiful than some nicely oil finished good looking wood grain.

But I have to admit that your new foregrip paintjob is pretty special. Now just do a matching pistol grip to go with it.

I completely agree about classic styling of firearms, and this specific barrel combination would be my exception. I just don't know if I could shoot the damn thing with wood grips! HAHAHAH!!!
