Guys ...

I've said it before and I'll say it again ...

Don't just get mad, E-MAIL THE SPONSORS!!!

Advertisers' money is mother's milk to CBS. So hit 'um in the pocketbook where it counts.

would somebody be so kind as to post a list of the sponsors, for those of us who don't watch TV?

"Just in time to coincide with some pending legislation no doubt. "

Right. Feinstein is planning to tag a fifty caliber ban on the frivilous law suit bill. She has given up on re-upping the awb for the time being.

Here is the transcript for those of you who missed it.

Buying Big Guns

I turned it off when this line was spoken:

"You have all the guns you need here to fight a war. M-16s. That's what the U.S. soldiers carry in Iraq. All the rifles which U.S. soldiers use in every war, you can buy them in a gun store or a gun show."

Do you think I could bet Ed Bradley $50,000 that he couldn't buy an M-16 in a gun shop? [1]

If after reading the transcript you want to call the BATF and demand the arrest and prosecution of this man who clearly confesses to violating a number of laws not the least of which is falsifying his 4473 forms by answering yes to question 12a, a crime punishable of up to $250,000 and 10yrs in jail, here is the number. 1-800-ATF-GUNS (1-800-283-4867)[2][3]

Try a google search on Florin Krasniqi and Triangle General Contractors if they need contact information.

I wonder if a good attorney could get 60 minutes and Ed Bradley named in a RICO investigation for having prior knowledge of this blackmarket activity.

[1]National Firearms Act
[2]Man sentenced
[3]Form 4473

Lesseee, that guy broke the Arms Control Export Act, Gun Control Act of '68, committed perjury on the 4473... just off the top of my head I can name 3 laws he broke. Yet those leftist dolts still insist there aren't enough laws.

---"You just have to have a credit card and clear record, and you can go buy as many as you want. No questions asked," says Krasn"

As many as you want eh? Does he have a platinum ultra or something? I thought .50;s cost thousands. Does he get a discount?

----"You can just go into a gun show or a gun store in this country and buy a shell that will pierce armor? A civilian," asks Bradley.'

A Civialin? What an elitist...something thats not appropriate. Ide bet his idea of a perfect civilian would fit well with stalin or hitler.

----"We are the candy store for guns in the world. And it's easy for people to acquire them here," says Vince, who adds that America is "absolutely" the best place for a terrorist to equip himself with guns."

So they will come here to buy 1200$ AR's and Semi auto AK's for 600$ instead of trading some rice for a full auto?

----"Small arms are the No. 1 weapon for terrorists," says Vince. "On the newsreels about Iraq and Afghanistan, you always see the insurgents standing there with their shoulder-held rocket launchers. But in fact, that is one round, where an assault weapon can be repeatedly fired – as many rounds as you have. It’s a much better tactical weapon."

Really? What about all the suicide bombers and the car bombs? I dont see a whole lotta terrorists using their AK's to much effect!

---"Are these small-caliber weapons used more often to kill people than large weapons? "Absolutely," says Vince."

So your saying an AK can kill more people more effeciently than a 25 pound bomb???

----"But you wouldn’t have been able to buy guns for the Kosovo Liberation Army if the gun laws in this country were stricter," says Bradley. "And I’m hearing you say you’re anti-gun. How can you be anti-gun when you’re buying guns to free your people?"

"I took advantage of a liberal law here in this country to help my old country," says Krasniqi. "And I believe in my heart I did it for the good. But some people can do it for the bad."

*sigh* So you would rather bad people have them than have freedom?

Sounds like this entire conversation with this guy has been absolute utter bullcrap. :banghead:

Holy Crap!

I can't believe this!

You mean people STILL WATCH "60 Minutes????????"

Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PBS - that other bastion of honest news - is going to run a special this Tuesday evening on a show called "POV", a "documentary" on this fellow who was buying guns and shipping them overseas.

The horror - we don't have a national database for gun registration.

I'm not too worried, shows like this can continue to spout their BS - but we've got George Bush in the White House and he's not going to push any anti-gun legislation. I trust the Republican Senate about as far as I can throw any of them, that 6 year term they get successfully insulates them from voter anger. The House is much safer bet for us, they have to deal with us every 2 years and are much more aware that upsetting us can cost them their lucrative jobs.

Didn't ya just love how Ed Bradley asked all those questions as if he didn't already know the anwers, given that this is the umpteenth story 60 Minutes has done on the .50BMG? And the feigned shock and annoyance as he rubs his temple with his index finger.

He's a brilliant actor in the mould of the Film Actors Guild of "Team America: World Police" genre.

Small arms are the weapons of choice in Iraq? They must not have watched the other 60-Minute segment tonite on un-armored HUMVEEs? 80% are killed or wounded by IEDs, they told us.

Gawd, they must think we're stupid.

Standing Wolf:

Not necessarily. Advertisers buy time based on a program's ratings, because they're aim is to get their message to as many people as possible. This presumes of course that the content of the show won't make viewers mad at them (the advertisers). If they start catching flack from people who say in effect, "if you are going to sponsor this trash I'm not going to buy your product or service," the advertisers will take notice ... especially if they get a bunch of e-mails or letters. Television advertising is very expensive, and no advertiser can afford to have a program generate negative reactions toward them. If enough people protest CBS will hear about it from clients they can't afford to lose.

Always hit 'um in the pocketbook ...

seems to me I've heard this song before, still left with the same questions though

Posters Note:

The following send to CBS Feedback

Another Sunday has rolled around, bringing with it another rehash of an old, previously aired, 60 Minutes anti gun diatribe, this one dealing with .50 caliber rifles.

Once again, we are treated to the maudling ramblings of a couple of bureaucratic retreads, former Customs head Kelly, and a gentleman formerly with the BATF, both of whom have entertained viewers before. Then we are again treated to Ed Bradley's soft ball questions and his well known look of concern.

We are also treated to a recap of the adventures of that Albanian gentleman, the one who started his life in this country as an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, the same one who went on to violate U.S. export regulations, engaging in gun running and the smuggling of small arms, seemingly without such activities having caused the slightest attention towards him from the feds, and most certainly without the least question thereon from CBS News, which can usually be counted on for something "interesting".

Of course, the fact that today's rehash of "old wine" plays into CBS's well known and long standing anti gun position might serve to explain the above mentioned silence on their part, who knows? Anyhow, even making the most generous of allowances for the "summer doldrums", otherwise known as "the time of reruns", one would think that given it's volumous film library, CBS could come up with more interesting material to rerun. I guess that such is not the case, sad to note.

That asshat krasiki! *** is wrong with him? "We're fighing for freedom from tyranny! Our cause is noble and just! We are killing the legitimate soldiers doing their duty in the country we are seperating from - but it's wrong for American civilians to have these."

So when they create their new state their goal will be that the 'civilians' will never be able to do to them what they did to their old state... Yea, great. Pity the fools fighting for that cause.

First of all, the KLA is and was a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. The USA State Department dropped them from the terrorist list when they first OPENLY supplied them with weapons in the 90's. That's right, where do you think they got their taste for American weapons? And they won't be using their Barret Light 50's on airplanes and helicopters, because they already have freaking Stingers. And furthermore the KLA is the SINGLE BIGGEST impediment to a lasting peace in the region.

Secondly, the KLA is large enough and established enough that they could easily tool their own bolt-action single-shot .50 rifles. What a bunch of asshats.

And to show you just how incredibly stupid this guy is, he lets documentary film-makers tag along with him while he smuggles weapons? He does interviews with national TV shows exposing how his operation worked???????? Who the fk does that?

"OK guys, we're fighting for independence here, but since the fighting has lulled a bit I'm going to America to do an interview and show them how we get weapons and money. Yea, this means that we won't be able to get weapons and money anymore, but you're missing the point - I'll get on TV!"

Hey guys, want to hear a crazy theory? Since this guy is a criminal aiding and abetting a terrorist organization, and he admits to committing many many many crimes, doesn't it seem a little suspicious that he's so open about it, and that Interpol or some police agency hasn't done anything? Just a little funny? And then he doesn't just talk about his crimes, he BROADCASTS them?!!?

AND THEN he makes recommendations about how to change AMERICA's gun laws?!??? Talks about citizens having too much freedom?!?!!? A freedom fighter?!?!!?!?!?

This doesn't sound rational, it's irrational, it's completely bunk. IF he really was a gun-runner, I bet he got caught, and part of his plea is to do 'public awareness' (hint, propaganda) work.

Anyone here care to suggest any other way this situation could make any sense at all?
