6.5x55 loads?

IMR and H4350 are a good place to start.
RL22 works really good as should RL17.
VitaVouri N540 and N150 seem to come to mind.

If you're deer hunting, the 120gr-130gr bullets are adequate. For Elk 140's are prefered. For close range, the 154-160gr bullets perform all out of proportion to bore size and diameter.

My 6.5 is a .260 which is a shorter newcomer with similar ballistics. Powder choices are identical.

My rifle likes RL17 and RL19 for the lighter bullets 120 and 129. It prefers IMR4350 for the 139 and 140's. RL22 takes top honors with the 160gr bullets.

Powder charges will depend on whether you have a newer rifle or mil-surp. Federal 210 primers are my prefered ignition.

its a vz 24 action with a brand new barrel but i like the accubond bullets they do well on taking down the tough ol blacktail deer i hunt so i was inquireing on which powder or load someone has found great success with.

Probably a dumb question, but I ask it anyway...

What do the reloading manuals / saami base the max pressure on, milsurp swede or modern bolt action design? I have an old swede and the equipment to reload for it; I just never have gotten around to it.

Thanks!

Load data is loaded down to Norwegian Krag/Swedish M96 pressure levels. With a modern receiver, you can load up to the standard 60k/62k pressure levels of modern rimless bottlenecked cartridges.

Not a dumb question. Each manual will state the firearm and pressure they are testing at. Speer's new 14'th edition has two 6.5X55 sections. One specifically for older Mausers, and a high pressure modern rifle section.

If your VZ-24 was rebarreled properly, you can safely use the higher pressure loads listed in the manuals or at the powder websites.
The VZ-24 is a quality made M98 action, and is capable of handling modern loadings.

I have a VZ-24 in 6.5x55 myself.
