I've been hearing about the 6.8 Remington cartridge with moderate interest as it relates to 3-gun rifle events. If it would be possible to provide for using AR-15 ergonomics, parts, and capacity and make major, it would seem to be an ideal marrige between rifle and cartridge.
From www.longrangehunting.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001245 a 115 grain bullet at 2800 fps is listed. This makes 322 Power Factor, short of the 340 required for Major status required in rifle. What barrel length gives such ballistics, and could the round be loaded to make major in a 20" barrel? If not, what barrel length, if any, would allow one to make major?
