For those interested: WC Recon w/ 18" barrel @ 100 yards with factory Hornady 110 V-Max and S & B 110 polymer tip. Both rounds functioned flawlessly, both shot to exact same POI (+2") and both grouped right at an inch. I have read poor accuracy reports on the Hornady stuff but I did not see any problems - good stuff; S & B also very good stuff - ready for deer season. Also, I used my cheapie Caldwell AR brass catcher for the first time (want to start reloading the 6.8) and (surprisingly) it worked great; fit well, did not cause any jams - I opened the bottom zipper and the hot brass just fell on the bench to cool and collect - a $10 investment that functioned as advertised. For those that raise eyebrows at the 110 grain polymer tip ammo for deer, my wife and I have both shot larger bucks with this bullet - absolutely shot and drop (our experience anyway). Good shooting.

I'm building a 6.8 right now...very slowly though. I'm interested in seeing how your rifle is put together, post a pic if you have one please.

i have switched to hunting exclusively with my 6.8, for reloading the preferred powder is AA2200.

Here's mine so far...plan is to go side charger. I have some thoughts on upper reciever profile too that would be very different than normal. It works on paper, just have to replicate in reality.

I converted one of my carbines to 6.8 about 3 years ago with a barrel and bolt change. Have had accuracy issues since day one, and after trying loads from 90ge to 120gr, polishing the crown, and pulling my hair out, I remembered that the barrel nut on this rifle was very hard to time without passing the 80lb/ft. So I pulled the barrel and honed the front edge of the reciever threads to allow the barrel extension to go a little bit deeper. Now the minimum torqued barrel nut is tight and timed at 80lb/ft. So I hope that the poor accuracy issue will finally go away. I really want this rifle to work, as it is the only AR that I have ever built with accuracy issues.

If it doesn't work I will convert it to 300 Blackout.

WestKentucky, my Wilson Combat Recon 6.8 is stock except for the 18" barrel option and the billet upper/ lower; lots of photos and specs on the WC website or other webs. Great functioning/ quality/ accurate AR and seems to shoot most ammo very well; WC stuff (I also own one of their CQB .45s) is pricey but it is of excellent quality - however, other builds could probably be gotten of the same quality at lesser cost I'm sure - just always had very good results with WC product.
