I picked up a couple thousand Hornady 110 Grain BTHP's a few months ago on sale and have a PSA 18" Stainless and a Daniel Defense 16" to work with. Was able to score 500 new, small rifle primer Starline cases and 3k of the CCI 450 primers from Natchezz, have also seen these around Scheels. Oh, and, of course, got a fair amount of 2200 powder from Scheels so I'm off to the races.

So far, the results have been impressive. Running at 28.4 Grains (.2 UNDER max) I've managed 2590 and 2660 fps in the 16" and 18" rifles respectively. This is a Muzzle Energy 1638 and 1728. Accuracy is just OK but they're both brand new and it seems to be improving. Given that my average out of 16" rifles for factory IMI M855 is just over 2900 for around 1170 Ft/Lbs, I'm pretty impressed with the difference in power gained by 6.8, roughly a 44 percent average gain. I know that the same can be accomplished with 6.5 Grendel.

I think gun owners suffer from too many choices in AR platforms. There must be a dozen calibers that are now reloader only. At least 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel can be found on the shelves and online with great priced guns from PSA and some others.

I have the Grendel but I'm still looking to pick up a 6.8spc when I can jut because lol , I would love to get a Ruger American Ranch chambered in the 6.8 spc....I have problems wit having an AR,, I shoot too much ammo through them 🙃

I’m with you. I recently built an upper for whitetail and I think I choose poorly. I went with 6mm ARC. I’m sure it will be fine, but I’m not holding my breath on ammo availability for the future.

I work up loads with my Mini 6.8. Got a couple thousand Remington factory loads a few years back from a friend who got them at a factory sale. Have plenty of brass and bullets. Always wanted a 6.8 bolt gun.

I was able to stock up on Hornady 6.8SPC 120Gr SST ammo years ago so I have yet to try and reload any 6.8 ammo. I have a PSA premium 20" A4 upper in 6.8 with a FN barrel that shoots the 120Gr SST rounds exceptionally well.

I wouldn't mind having a bolt action in 6.8 SPC and 6mm ARC but they are hard to find in left hand rifles without spending over my budget or placing a custom order with Savage for one.

I would go with a bolt gun for sure, maybe Howa will put their 1500 mini out in 6.8 someday, i think they used to. With so many calibers it’s just a crap shoot, standardization has its benefits, too much variety has its drawbacks

I need to. I have to finish setting up my bench. I carried up another 10 totes of brass, bullets, gear, etc. but I still don’t have a press mounted. I need to work up .270 and 6.8spc before deer season, but deer season opens in 6 days so I’m out of time. I did get my blinds out finally… yesterday. It’s been a really rough year but I do have a couple decent options for hunting so I’m not THAT far off course. The kids muzzleloader is probably the best option we have right now but my 6.8 has always been super accurate, I just need to send a couple rounds down range to verify zero on what I already have loaded.

In 6.8 spc I use:

A2200 for 115, 120, and 130 grain loads
H322 for 110 grain loads
RE7 for 90 grain loads

I’m burning through my 120 SST factory stuff faster than expected, so I’ll be placing an order soon. Wish I could find the 90 grain Federal Fusion stuff. It’s perfect for pigs and deer.

I'm so afraid of 6.8 SPC being a dying caliber. I've got 2...a Bison Armory that has the twist rate to stabilize the 200 grain Woodleigh for subsonic use and a 12.5" barreled SBR that shoots great. I've got a good supply of brass for a while, but finding more brass if it becomes necessary is concerning.

My loads:
Bison rifle-
subsonic load-200 grain Woodleigh
H4895 powder
Federal brass
CCI 41 primer
1025 fps and has the same zero at 50 yards as the supersonic at 100 yards
supersonic load-120 Hornady SST
AA2200 powder
SSA brass
CCI 41 primer
2460 fps (duplicates factory Hornady 120 load), solid 1.25" 5-shot at 100 yards

ARP 12.5" SBR-90 grain Speer TNT
RL-7 powder
Hornady brass
CCI 41 primer
2640 fps (pretty good from a 12.5" barrel) and REALLY tight groups at 50 yards with an Aimpoint C3 red dot

Both my son and I have taken a deer apiece with the 120 SST handloads. I gotta get some more loading done. I've got lots of components sitting around just waiting...

I have been a 6.8 guy for years. I have built a 6.8 bolt action in the past but it was to heavy for me. I will try again in near future. A great round, very light recoil and plenty of power for what I do.

I never did handload for mine, perferring to shoot SSA 110 Accubonds, tactical load (the hotter version). Then I went with Hornady black and that stuff was both hot, and accurate.
I dont take them deer hunting, not appropriate for what I am doing. But super cartridge for the AR.
