A guy I know says he has a 6" Series 70 Gold Cup that he wants to sell. I love 1911's, but with the exception of my 1927 Sistema, my knowledge of 1911's is really from 1995 on up to now. I have seen other longslides; custom ones, AMT, etc.; however, I have never seen a factory Colt one.

Did Colt make a 6" Series 70 Gold Cup?
If so, when?
If so, how much rarer or sought after are they?

Thanks :D

Colt never made a 6" 1911 of any sort, much less a Gold Cup.
Colt made 1911's with barrels of 5" and less.

Although it's quite possible to put a 6" barrel in a 5" slide, the barrel will stick out 1".
It's possible someone put a longer barrel in the gun Post-factory.

I recently saw a Clark Longslide conversion on a Gold Cup. But it was a Clark custom gunsmithing job, not a Colt factory product. Sure did a nice job, though.

That is kinda what I thought. Like I said the only factory longslide I've seen was an AMT. I haven't talked to him since the other day, but I bet it is a aftermarket 6" compensated barrel in a regular Gold Cup slide. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.
