S&W 629-1, fluted cylinder, stainless 3" barrel, round butt, and hardly fired. Cosmetically in good shape. Any ideas what going rate is??? I may have a line on a really good deal. I have a feeling it may be a Lew Horton in which case it isn't such a good deal. The -1 leads me to believe it may not be though. Trying to find out from seller now.

Actually, some of the Lew Horton runs have turned out to be almost instant collector's items.

I've seen 629s offered for as little as $350 and as much as $1,100. I think it depends a lot on where you are and what the local market is doing. They don't seem to command premium prices in Colorado, probably because there are lots of them floating around.

How do you figure that it is worth less because it's a Lew Horton order? News to me. Lets hear the reasoning on that one!

Well, an anagram for Lew Horton is "Hotel Worn"...

Blue Book says so. 100% specimen is rated ~$100 less than than everything else. I wasn't sure why. That's why I am posting.

What Blue book is that specifically, and what page please?

Whether Lew Horton or not, I believe all of the 3" fluted 629 revolvers were of the dash one persuasion.
I have never seen a factory 3" 29 or 629 with recessed chambers. The original 3" .44 magnums were model 29-3s. The 3" 629s weren't made until later on.
