What I have is a S&W Model 629-2 6" Stainless unfluted cylinder Sn- BDA9177 any information would be help full. Well not sure this is a friendly site to be a member of . I simply would like to know if anyone has information they would care to share on the date of manufacture of this handgun. I have the second edition of the Smith & Wesson guide however it is very vague on the 629-2 .

The other two posters have made a point. Hopefully you see it.

In the meantime, go to the Smith & Wesson homepage, click Resources tab, and click Firearm History Request and follow the instructions.

Provide them more info than you have here.

OR if you don't want to go thru all that trouble, then try Wikipedia.

OR try saying something like:

"Hi, I recently came into possession of a SW Model 629-2 with a 6" barrel. I really don't know anything about it. Would anyone here be able to show me where or how to get info on it? The only other thing it has is an un-fluted cylinder, which I think looks cool by the way. Thanks in Advance."

Heck, you could even cut and paste the above.

ETA: OR you could just say to hell with these @#$%^&* SOB's and lose a great resource. Your Choice.
