Just curious for those of you who own Kalashnikovs / SKSs. Approximately how many rounds do you keep on hand at any given time? I usually keep around 400 to 500 rounds or so stockpiled, "just in case." In addition, I usually allow myself 2 or 3 hundred rounds a month for shooting and I keep about twenty on hand for hunting.

I have separate groups: Group A - Stockpiled ammo (Winchester 124 gr FMJ), Group B - range ammo (Wolf 124 gr FMJ), and Group C - hunting ammo (Federal PowerShok 123 gr SP)

About 12k at last count. Mostly Barnual HP purchased at around $39 per 500. I've got about a half dozen 700 round spam cans of Silver Bear that I got for $60 a can too. I remember buying cases of S&B from Natchez for under $2 a box/20.

I sold all my 7.62x39 shootin irons,, (putting the money into more 5.56 and real 7.62mm) So only a can or two is left,,,in case one of the zombie hoardes drops one...

You really need to know?

Make a guess... choose a number somewhere between 1 & 100,000.

And no, I won't tell you if you're close. :neener:

i havnt gotten off my butt and gotten more. .45 has held my attention and wallet at the moment. got plenty of 54R though!

Little over 1k in an air-tight ammo can, along with 10 loaded 30-round mags with my Saiga.

Oh yeah, my preferred stock is Wolf Military Classic HP. Frag-tastic!

Your local ATF, FBI, PD, Fire Dept, Homeland Security, Insurance Companies, Democrats, etc etc all want to know.

I have no guns or ammo besides that pistol that is registered in my name. ;)
But if I did have a stock pile of 7.62x39 I'd have a minimum 1000 rds. on hand at all times.

Yup, no one has guns. Nobody has more than 20 rounds of ammo. There's no good reason for that, look at the discussion board on a pro-gun site--even they don't keep much ammo on hand...

Yeah, I keep lots of ammo on hand. I buy it when its cheap, shoot it when I have time. And there's nothing wrong with that. (Hide your sport or your rights and they'll go away...)

Private residences ATF can't say squat, in AZ the Fir dept nor police can say squat either as long as your not a commercial dealer then zoning and everything else comes into play regarding the listed business address

Now as to the original question....... your pol quantities fall way far short add a bunch of zeros behind your highest option and adding ;)

If I would stop spending so much on guns maybe I could actually start stocking up on more ammo:banghead:

I have one 20rd box of 7.62x39 for my AK and SKS, how pathetic is that!

I have a few hundred rounds of .223 left for my AR, about 700 rounds of 7.62x54r for my one Mosin and a few hundred rounds of 7.62x51 that I'm hesitant to use up.

You're not even close

I usually keep around 400 to 500 rounds or so stockpiled, "just in case."

500 rounds does not an ammo stockpile make unless you're a liberal "journalist".

When ammo sales get banned or taxed out of existence your 500 rounds will disappear like vapor.

Saddam Hussein was a scumbag. But I gotta say, the guy sure knew how to stockpile ammo. But for those of us who are not multibillionaire dictator/presidents 1000 rounds should be the bare minimum.

That is, until you reach your goal of 1000 rounds. Then you should consider 2000 to be a bare minimum. And so on...

Do you see how it works?

However, 500 rounds is vastly more than none. Congrats on making a good start.:)

Gun discussion board members are such a paranoid lot.

You can't be considered paranoid when they ARE out to get you;)

even a meager 2000rds works well as a price buffer between big runs of surplus or sales every year or two,
