Just ordered 1000 rds of Golden Tiger 7.62x39 from ammoman.com. The price is $179 delivered. Seemed like a good price compared to what I've been seeing, but probably not as good as everyone will say it was last year. :)Around here this same stuff is selling for $3.99/box and the mil classic just went to $4.99.

I can't attest to it's functionality because I still haven't had a chance to get all the cosmoline out of my 59/66 yet.

That is around the price I keep seeing at gun shows for the steel case stuff. I think the last gun show had some brands approaching $200.

About all I want right now is to pick of a 500 round pack of soft points.

that midway price does not include shipping
I just followed the link and ordered 2K rounds for the Saiga I got yesterday for my birthday from the wife. Shipping was $40.40, so the total was $370.38. The gun, including shipping, was $284.89. With ammo at these prices, ammo companies should just give the guns away.

Cabelas has Wolf 7.62 x 3, 1000 rounds for $199.99. :barf: :barf:

I remember back in 2004 I bought 1000 rounds for $89.99 (from Cabelas) plus I got two free military containers.

The funny thing, is when Wolf 7.62 x 39 was that cheap- I shot it like it was nothing. I blazed away while plinking. Now I am much more conservative and stingy when I shoot. I honestly have about 250 rounds left I don't want to touch. :uhoh:

I never would have dreamed this stuff would become gold in the grass!

The Golden Tiger is nice ammo...I bought a case awhile back and am down to 500rds...I'm about two order two or three more.

Sealed neck and primer, clean shooting (for cheap 7.62x39) and plenty accurate in all my guns. It goes bang every time.

Aimsurplus.com has it for $159+ shipping right now...

Well I broke my own rule today. I should have checked aimsurplus before I went to the gun shop. :banghead: I think I am finally done with the local shops.

.....fooled me twice, shame on me.

BUYING 7.62 xx 39 ammo

cast and reload for about $7.00/C
Initial lee turret setup was <$100.00 with dies

primer 1.5 Cents (now 2.2 cents)
powder 1.5 " surplus $8.00 /lb powder
case 3 " amortized over 6 loads per case
bullet 0 " hand cast from scrounged wheelweights Lee 7.62 155-2R
gas chek 2.2 " Not needed for plinking ammo
+_______
7.2 Cents

No lacquered steel cases to gum up your gun, and prettier ammo that with the proper alloy will evoke questions and admiration at the range. Accurate enough to hit a Caldwell Twin spin steel target spinner at 100 yard berm
