BAR NONE You simply won't find a powder that'll preform better than either N-120 or AA1680 for 110 to 125grn bullet weights.

Many of the following posts will agree with me

AA-1680 and H-4895, have loads for both that work well in the SKS and vZ-58.

This was from the first time I ever fired it, building more testers to find the load that gives me MOA with this puppy!

someone on another forum said he liked xmr 2015 the best which I have used in 223 with great results, but he didnt leave data. I also have n130 I bought for the 223 which some manuals list as useable for 7.62x39. Sounds like I will go through my n130 then give the n120 a try as vv is very fine quality in my experience, too bad expensive and hard to find locally. How does n130 meter anyhow? I have the hornady l&l setup

Most folk like AA1680, but in my ARs I've had the best luck with H4198 under 125gr and 150gr bullets and H322 under 174gr Hornadys.

As soon as my brass comes in, and I find out what primer they take, I'm going to start reloading for this caliber. I already have 124gr FMJs bullets from Golden West Brass. I'm thinking of going with Reloader 7 as I have "heard" that it performs like AA 1680 but is cleaner burning. Has anyone else tried both to confirm this? res45 seems to be the local expert on loading for this caliber and likes it.

I've heard that people can't get their guns to cycle with IMR 4227. I have 9 Winchester cases to play with until my brass arrives. Bored, I decided to try the IMR powder for my AR type rifle, but load data is wide. The Hodgdon site lists a max of 18.5 for the 125gr bullet. My 2nd edition Sierra book lists a starting load 20.6grs of powder for their 125gr bullet, but it's a .308 bullet. I settle on 19grs for the 124 FMJ I have and a standard CCI 200 primer. I loaded just 2 rounds. First round, gun cycles fine and locks back, just like normal. So did the second round. Cases and primers seem fine. This is not a good test and I know it. My main problem is Hodgdon list 18.5grs max for IMR 4227 and the Sierra book starts at 20.6grs. 24.3grs max. That wide a load data makes me nervous. But the gun works. Accuracy testing will be awhile as I have no clue when my shipment of brass comes in, but I may play with this powder just a little more. Just thought I'd let the gang know what I found.

It's an upper from Model 1 Sales. Bore size is .310. The bullets are .311. I'd asked about 4227 a while back when I had no brass. Just about anyone that tried it said their gun wouldn't cycle. But I wonder if they used the load data from Hodgdon's site? My Sierra book is old. Sierra test gun was a Sako Vixen with a .312 bore. And I have no chrony, so I don't have a clue what velocity anything is shooting at. Next test would be to load 5 rounds and see how they cycle through the gun. But like I said, the load data from Hodgdon and Sierra are so far apart, I'm not sure where I'm at on safety.

Hey Krochus, mighty fine shootin there. Mind tell me what you are getting for velocities in that 110 V-Max N-120 load, also what's the magic number in grains of N-120 with the 125gr bullets. I have a couple of 2lb jugs of N-120, but haven't had time to mess with it much. BTW, did you get that Rem brass?

Been shootin it in for the past couple weeks. I really appreciate the stuff, I was starting to get paranoid when I heard that rem had discontinued the small primed cases

In my slow twist 26" bbl I those 110grainers are exiting the muzzle at over 2700 fps. Honestly every charge weight I tried with n-120 shot outstanding so I just settled on the max load
