Anybody use these? seems like its a bad idea what with a .311 bullet throught a .308 bore.
The site recommends using locktite to keep it in place and a broken shell extracter to remove. They also have adapters for .308 to x39. I have to admit a 7.62x39 FAL would be kinda cool. For the SHTF types now you can use all sorts of ammo in one gun.

Well the Ruger Mini-30 is bored to .308 diameter and the regular .311 bullets seem to fire Ok in that rifle. So why not!

DO NOT! ever put one of these things in a rifle you don't want to perminately convert. I keep saying this, posters keep ignoring me and I keep getting to say "I told you so"

Pretty much just permanently wedges itself in the chamber I am guessing?

Looks like it would anyway, after a few rounds.

What would it do in the fluted chamber of a cetme/g3?

So I know that Bill Fleming used to sell a G3 conversion to x39. He had to modify the rifle to use AK magazines. The x39 would not reliably feed in x51 magazines in the G3.

Now, his used a barrel specifically chambered for x39 but even if this conversion thing worked you'd still have feeding problems I'd suspect.

That one, the obvious reason would be to allow you to practice at an indoor range that allows handgun rounds only, or as a short-range, quiet small-game-hunting load.

7.62x39mm in a .30-06 doesn't make as much sense to me if it is more or less a permanent conversion.

Doesn't matter, because that company won't sell you anything or respond to emails.

If they were to start making them again, I should think that some breech plug grease would keep them from sticking in the chamber, no?

Also, the ones that allow a rimfire conversion (.22lr in .22mag, etc.) probably don't put out enough pressure to jam the thing in the chamber.

BTW, I bought one of those many years ago so I could shoot .22LR out of my mini-14. It worked as advertised, and I did a little plinking in the yard with it using .22 Long CB's, too). It never stuck in the chamber, though the instructions did advise you not to use CCI Stingers or similar rounds.

The downside was, it was rather tedious to use.

(1) Poke a thin rod into the open mouth of the adapter to push out the base insert.

(2) Insert a single .22LR round.

(3) Reassemble the adapter.

(4) Load the adapter into the chamber.

(5) Shoot. (Piff!)

(6) Turn rifle and carefully eject adapter onto table, or into your hand if you are a space alien with 3 hands.

(7) Congratulations! You've fired exactly ONE shot! Now you get to start over at step (1).

So it didn't get a whole lot of use.

well from what I read it says to coat the adapter with loctite, place the desired caliber in the adapter and the adapter in the firearm then let it sit. then you can remove the round and the adapter stays in place and you use a broken shell extractor to remove the adapter so it isn't permanent........thats what the website said....not endorsing or bashing.

Ah, mine did not require loctiting in the chamber. It looked like a steel .223 cartridge when assembled. Little bit different style.
