Im a novice at reloading.
I was given a 1891 Argentine mauser.
The T serial number = 1900 mfg date.
I live in the Nothwestern Arctic Alaska.
Not a place rife with 7.65 Mauser rifle ammo on the store shelves.

So was thinking of handloading for the 7.65 Argentine.
As its the 1891 mauser mfg in 1900 was thinking its more like a rimless .303 British as for pressures.

I picked up 100 cases of New Privi Partizan brass.
My next step will be to pound a lead fishing sinker down the bore to figure what size the bullet itd take?
So whats published is itd take a .311" bullet but I want to work with a known.
A frend gave me a bag of .310" Remington Coreloct 180gr soft points.
I Might consider using them.
Might not. Just because they are free dont mean I might use them
(No loading data on 180gr rem coreloct .310" in this 7.65 Mauser)
Then should I measure case capacity of the brass I have?
Just because I over simplified saying its a rimless .303 British can that be problematic?
In 1900 nobody was using spire pointed bullets but round nose 200gr slow boats of hurt.
I dont want to get off on the wrong foot with my first reloading this cartridge.
Comparing the case next to a .308, the 7.65 case is a bigger case.
As its a 1891 mfg 12 years before the Titanic set sail makes me think pressures souldnt be high.
I did buy a box of 7.65 Mauser the last time I was in Anchorage (Alaska Ammo) still that was a $28 box of cartridges.
I still would need some sort of powder measure/scale and reloading die.

Probably not worth the trouble just reloading for the one gun unless you plan to shoot it quite a bit. I'd check out SGAMMO.COM and mail order some factory ammo. It's not cheap, but sure beats buying the dies and bullets, and stuff.

I load 150 gr. Hornady bullets in front of IMR 4064. I have a 1909 Mauser instead of a 1891.
You can resize .30-06 brass to 7.65 Arg. I have done it in the past.

The 1909 mauser is a mauser 98.
The 1891 action and bolt look allot like a Spanish 93 Mauser.
Those are mentioned not to load to .308 winchester pressures.
So I have a slow and low pressure round to work with more like a .303 Brit or a 30/40 Krag?

I have a 1891 Argentine Mauser too. I am currently shooting some of the the Hornady 150gr SP ammo I got a few years ago. I haven't shot it in several years but when I did my gun did not like the Priv Partizan hopefully your does.

Hodgdon's online reloading database has load data for 7.65x53 Mauser (same as 7.65 Argentine). The interesting thing is none of the loads have pressure data. Hodgdon usually publishes pressure data with there reloading data. Should give you a good place to start though. Start with one of the minimum 174gr loads under your 180gr bullet and work up to the velocity you want.

I thing I will roll a few for this rifle just to try.

Thanks mcb for the link, I will check it out.

ppu is the way to go with the Argentine, I made a lot from 06/270 before the ppu was around. The 91 is actually strong but does not have good gas mitigation plus no third lug. Even low power 7.65 are great for hunting.

I think the Pre 1906 7.65 Mauser ammunition used meltal jacket 210 grn round nose bullets.

So a 1891 mfg in 1900 would really perform well with heavier bullets?

Slow and Low is the Tempo.
