How difficult is it to change the firing pin in a 700 bolt? Can it be done without any special tools? I sent my bolt (300 RUM) off for some work and when it came back there was no firing pin assembly. I called, shipped it back, 2 weeks later I had it back... Went to shoot yesterday and realized they put the "short" firing pin in (when I heard a click instead of a boom, no mark on primer). It was no where near the primer when in the fired position. Yes, it is screwed in all the way, was shooting with a buddy that also had a 300 RUM and we kept having to trade/switch the firing pin assembly back and forth (not the entire bolt)

It is a bit tough without the tools. It can be done, but I would just recommend ordering the tools, that way you can properly disassemble the mechanish for proper cleaning and lube on a periodic bases.

Are you talking about the tool that relieves tension so that you can unscrew the firing pin/striker assembly from the bolt? I have that. I was needing to know if any additional tools were needed to change the firing pin and spring once you have the firing pin/striker/cocking assembly removed from the bolt.
