Hi Folks I am considering taking my 700 ADL in .30-.06 out of the cheesy factory plastic stock and putting it inot a Boyds JRS sporter stock.

http://www.boydboys.com/BrowseEbus/JRSrem.asp

I would like to know if anyone here has any experience with these stocks, and / or with the 700 ADL with the 22" factory contour sporter barrel.

This will be an unfinished VIP stock (inlet for the action but not hand fit) unfinished stock.

How well did your action fit into this stock, and what was the attachment / bedding like.

Did you free float yours?

How do you like it?

Thanks

Put one on a M70.....

I had an beater M70 .300 Win Mag[with factory synthetic stock] that I never really liked to shoot. It kicked like .....well like a light .300 mag. , and it didn't group very well...at least not well enough to be "interesting". I went to BOYDS website, and found a finished JRS stock on "scratch and dent sale", and started a make-over project with my local gunsmith.

He tuned the trigger to a "crisper" 3 lbs. Re-crowned the barrel, and glass bedded, and free floated the JRS stock. I had him replace the reciol pad that came on the stock with a KICK EEZ that I had left from another project, and installed a third sling swivel for use with a Ching Sling.

The Rifle now shoots great, and is MUCH more comfortable to shoot. The JRS stock probally added .75 lbs to the overall weight of th rifle, and that combined with the good recoil pad, makes the M70/.300WM a rifle that I look forward to shooting....not dreading it! The JRS design does help with the recoil also.

Oh yeah, I've gotten 1 group[ 3 shot- 100yard ] that measures .63"!

Thanks for your reply Will , its nice to get one HELPFULL reply to my question.

It looks like the JRS stock is a reasonable way to improve the performance of the 700 ADL.

(I did do a search, and I found zippo on this topic here, and even nothing on the firing line, it seems not many have repleced the 700 ADL stock with a boyds)
