Hello everyone. I've got a hankering to buy some of those lovely 700 grain monsters for my 500 mag. I was wondering where I can find reloading data for them. Anybody know?

I saw some on the lever action shooter society site. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I ordered all the stuff to cast and load 440's with a gascheck, might get my nerve up and try those 700's one day.

I'm somewhat...wary... of using loads found on the internet. I was wondering if the company that makes the bullet actually has reloading data for them.

When I buy them from Ranger Rick he sends them with 4 pages of load data that he has personal tested. And I've found most of his loads to be right on! And yes they are fun to shoot and get everyone’s attention. When people see the rounds sitting out on the bench its usually "Holy @#$@#$%" ;)

If you're a lead bullet caster, there's a group buy getting started over at castboolits.com. Here;

The mold won't be cheap,(I suspect it would be around $100.00). But it's a very high quality brass mold, and can be had with one cavity for hollow pointed bullets with two styles of HP, and the other a solid nose.

I've never shot the big "smith", but I have the opportunity available to me. My stepdaughter's boyfriend has one, has invited me to borrow it if I'd like to. It's a massive revolver, it should tame recoil pretty well with it's weight AND the muzzle brake. But a 700 grain gob of lead may make it painful!!:what::eek:

I'm curious as to just what the maximum velocity and muzzle energy is on those things. Does the info say?

I'm not a bullet caster as I just don't have a good place to do it. My reloading bench is in the kitchen and I refuse to cast lead in there. Is this a custom mold or one that'll be available to the general public?

It's a custom mold that will be available through that group buy. BUT the mold maker,(mihek), will have a cherry made to cut that mold, so they might be available after the group buy is completed. He might even make a few extras when he runs that group buy.

Cost for mold? I will first draw it and see. But I think it will be 85 - 90 USD.

Greetings,

Bought them, loaded them. They came with reloading data like it was mentionned previously.

You can also write to your powder reloading company and they will send you data.

oh! And yes it ti true they are soooo big and develop so much energy they can go through a 1 foot wide pine tree.

Thank you
