I have a Remington 7mm/08 model 7 with 18.5 inch barrel. Just to get an idea of approximate velocity I chorographed 5 rounds of the following reloads. Note these loads were worked up within my rifle and may have different pressures within your rifle. Follow standard reloading safety proceedures.

Average Velocity: 2331 ft/sec.
Projectile: Nosler 150 grain E-Tip
Case: New Remington
Primer: Remington Large Rife
Powder: Alliant RL-7 46.5 grains
C.o.l.: 2.800 inches
Comment: This is the mid-load within the Nosler #6 Manual. The load is not maximum, but near maximum. I would not care to load hotter. Due to length of projectile, I probably could not have included more than 0.5 grain more powder within the case.

Load #2.

Average Velocity: 2602 ft/sec.
Projectile: Hornady 139 grain GMX
Case: Remington
Primer: Remington Large Rifle
Powder: Hodgdon's H414 48.1 grains
C.o.l.: 2.800 inches
Comment: The source for this load is Hornady #8 manual. This load is near maximum, but not maximum within my rifle.

Further comment. The rifle started with a clean barrel. After about 60 rounds total of the above, it took about 75 patches to get rid of the copper fouling and return to a clean barrel. I am not sure which load fouled the barrel so badly. I suspect the Hornady GMX.

I hope the above information is useful to a California shooter having to deal with the "Condor Area" lead restrictions within projectiles.

Normaly I load a Nosler 140 grain ballistic tip or partition at 2710 ft/sec.

Thanks for the information, as it may be helpful to those who have that lead free restriction.
I would be cautious using the Rel-7 powder with the heavier weight bullets, as you know, it's pretty fast burning, and you can get pressure spikes with small increases.
H414 is identical to Win760 powder, and should be a good choice for all your bullet weights.
Good hunting.

Sorry I had a typing error. LOAD #1: The powder is NOT RL-7. The powder is RL-19, the mid-load of 46.5 grains Reference Nosler Manual #6 page 287, 150 grain 7mm/08.

Webmaster: How do I edit the original post after it has been up for so long? SORRY I REALLY SCREWED UP.

BobNob Just forward to me those fingers you don't need anyway and perhaps they can be put in a chum bucket for a great white.

Steve
