I just picked a a really nice 7x57 Ackley. I have always been a fan of the 7x57 and now I can "one up" the old round. The rifle is built on a HVA 98 Mauser action, mid 20th century and sports a flamed maple custom stock.

Here is the issue, I can start with mid to high 7x57 Mauser loads and work up but I sure would like a little guidance from anyone who has any experience with the round.
I once knew an older man who had one and took antelope out to 400 yards with his. I would like to do the same as well as perhaps use it to punch long range paper.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

That's what I do with my two Ackleys. Start mid to high in the manual and work up using a chrono and looking for overpressure signs (mostly sticky bolt lift, ejector brass flow, case life, etc) until I get the performance I want/need or I get scared.
