870 barrel

I have a shotgun barrel that was on my father's 870 Magnum Wingmaster that he has no interest in, so he put the original barrel back on. The barrel I have is a smoothbore barrel with rifle sights. I can't let the barrel feel lonely, so the obvious course of action is to get an 870 of my own.

Here is the question: Will this slug barrel that fits an older 870 (earlier 80's) fit all 870's (Express models, also)? Will an 870 barrel fit any other clone shotguns?

870 express, wingmaster - yes.
Clone (i.e. Norinco, H&R) - No.

That is to the best of my knowledge.

It'll fit all 870s in that gauge if it's a 12. Some 20s were built on the full sized frame in the 50s and 60s. These have barrels that will not interchange with the newer models on the LW frame.

Note that both the barrel and receiver must be Magnum compatible to use the longer shells. Receivers with an "M" at the end of the serial number qualify.

Buy an Express with 28" barrel, add this, Voila!! Instant GP shotgun suitable for mice or moose.....

Ah, a barrel in search of a gun......

Excellent excuse/reason. Come to think of it, I have a couple barrels that I thought were "extras". Now I realize that they are really incomplete shotguns. I'll need to address this ASAP!
