I picked up a 870 express mag yesterday to manufacture a SBS out of, the only down side that the barrel has a Vent Rib. This gun has a black light textured finish to it, I think it might be Parked. Ive seen the finish on factory new guns so I know came that way. I would like to find a 870 express mag barrel that does not have the vent rib but that will have the same finish at the receiver.

Anyone know if they make a Express barrel without the vent rib and with this light texture black finish?

This pic shows the finish on the barrel:

I'm not sure what type of finish it is but I've always seen them call the 'Express' barrels 'Matte' finish. I got a barrel for an Express model that was described as a matte finish and it matched perfectly.

I have not seen a Parkerized Remington since the SP Models of the late 80s. Parkerizing is a grayish green in color and smoother than the current "matte" black finish on the Expresses. The Expresses are rough from lack of finishing. The parkerizing is applied over a smooth finish in lieu of bluing. It is a phosphate finish that holds oil to protect the surface. Think M1 Garand.

its a Matte finish, i found a replacement barrel to do what i need. Thanks for the responce.
