870 youth---no ejector spring??

I have an 870 youth 20 GA and after looking at a friends 870, I noticed mine is missing an ejector spring. Is it supposed to have one?? A friend used it hunting not long ago without a problem, so it doesnt seem to be a problem.

ETA: I just did a function check with some shells and it launched them with no problem, just curious as to why my friends 12ga had one and mine does not.

I have to admit, I never paid any attention to it before. But now that you ask...

The one here doesn't have a spring type ejector as on the 12 guages either, so I suppose it's normal. There is a 'step' in the bottom edge of the bracket where the spring normally goes, that's rivetted to the receiver. I'd say that's the ejector on the 20s.

haha thanks lee, didnt mean to worry you but the rail that the bolt rides on does indeed have a 'step' in it and like I said it flung the shells pretty far, so I imagine its just a 12ga thing. I just wanted to make sure

Nope, 870 Youth does not have an ejector spring. It looks like it should but I have never seen one with one.
